Peculiar signal issues.

So a few days ago I noticed that I was having signal issues at my house. Usually have 3-4 bars at any given location in the house, with the exception of the basement where I have around 2 consistent bars.

Now the first thing I thought was that they might be upgrading our tower (happy days for me!). Fortunately, I'm on a family plan and I'm currently living with my family so I grabbed my mom's S3 to confirm my suspicions only to discover that she's got fantastic signal, pulling mid 20s down on HSPA+. So strike one there.

I then tried to toggle between setting LTE and 4G as the highest connection speed, but to no avail.

I also considered that it might be failing antennas, but this only happens at home, everywhere else is fine. I get great signal as usual on my commute and around the Chicagoland area, whether on LTE or HSPA+.

So basically, I'm at a loss. Anyone have any suggestions or insight?

Have you tried swapping SIMs in your phone and your mom's to see what happens? I've had SIMs go bad already and got them replaced by my carrier.

I knew I forgot something! I should also mention that I've tried connecting to multiple APNs with no success. I'll try the SIM swap and see if that helps.

EDIT: so I tried 2 SIMs with the same results. I'm thinking of sending it off to Nokia to have them tinker with.

Nothing yet. Once I pick up a backup phone I'll send it off to Nokia for a repair. I love this phone even despite a lot of the software shortcomings, but I'm starting to lose my patience.

Good news everyone! I finally figured out what it was! A couple days ago I woke up and decided to check the engineering menus. Turns out someone had set the UMTS radio to only attach to Band 2, which my neighborhood doesn't have. After setting it to auto I now have full signal everywhere. I'm thinking one of my WP friends did this as a prank....

By engineering menu, do you mean ##3282#? Or something different? I'm trying to access it on my Icon and it doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks!

Ah, perhaps I used the wrong terminology. But yes, I used the ##3282# menu. I know that the RAT menus on Android are locked by some carriers but I have idea how it is on WP.

Hi, could you elaborate on the engineering menu? Been having some weird problems with my 925's signal too.

Edit: It's okay, you posted it already. :P
