People look fatter when I shoot photos with my 950xl lumia in the horizontal direction

I've noticed that every time I shoot a photo with my 950xl lumia in the horizontal direction people look fatter than they really are, especially when I do selfies. This does not happen when shooting vertically. Has anyone noticed this? How to correct? Or is there any post-processing program that does this?

what aspect ratio are you using - i find that the widescreen ratio does cause some weird distortion in the outer thirds. This kind of effect is typical of most lenses, and there are a few good artiles online comparing the efects of different focal lengths.

I dont think there is a way of fixing it, other than trying to work with it somehow to make te effect less obvious.
