Phone not recognised, USB

I'm running a laptop with Windows 8.1 and not had any issues connecting my Lumia 625 to it until today. Just tried to connect and nothing. When i plug it in i get an error "USB device not recognised" and this just keeps flashing up, it seems to disable the driver then turn it back on. Iv rebooted everything, everything is updated, deleted the driver, reinstalled the driver, done a soft reset.

The cable still charges the phone just nothing else happens, its very frustrating.

Have you tried connecting your phone to other ports? Most of the time when I get that error message it's a loose connection. I hope the problem's not on your phone.
