As compared to my 920 with IPS LCD. I would say the IPS LCD is much better in terms of colour accuracy. It feels more comfortable to look at, maybe because of the natural colour saturation.
Pentile on the 720p screen of 925/1020 screen still shows some obvious pixels when holding at around 6 inch apart, of course it doesn't really matter from day to day. Just like comparing 720p to 1080p, at regular holding distance, who can really differentiate them?
I do realize that Nokia turn up the display brightness on the 925/1020 a lot more than 920 to conceal the flaws of AMOLED.
[White actually looks brown/yellow on AMOLED, but its not that obvious if its bright enough]
Often, the display feels a little too bright for me especially at night and I always have to turn down the brightness instead of automatic. 920 fits just right.
There's also a flaw with AMOLED regarding burn in effect if you turn the display on for too long, and colour degration. This is never an issue on IPS LCD. But good thing about AMOLED is the ability to completely turn on and off black pixels to save battery, but at the cost of doubling the power if its white.
At the end of the day, its really about marketing. Unfortunately Samsung is able to convince most of its followers that AMOLED is a better display. (sorry Samsung fans)

Here's 2 photos that I've taken with the 1020, on 920 and 925. Kind of crazy that the camera is able to see through the pixels
Both displays are set to automatic in term of brightness.
