Re: Pictures/Videos taken with your 928!

My wife and I rode the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad yesterday, and while I took my Canon, I also used the opportunity to take some shots with the 928. Funny - when the conductor came around to punch our tickets, I put down the Canon with the nice 12mm-24mm lense, and handed the guy next to me my Lumia, so he could take our pictures with the conductor. Conductor then asks, "Let me ask one question - why did you put the big camera down and hand him the little one?" My answer, "Because I don't expect everyone to know how to use the Canon. If they're shooting scenic pictures with a Note II (like this guy was), they're probably going to be intimidated by an SLR."

This bridge is where the Ocoee River changes names to the Toccoa River. One of the few rivers that flows south to north.

Yes, the Lumia adds 50 pounds.

Those are great Rich, shows perfectly that the 928 works well to capture moments when you may not have nor may want to carry a large camera around all day

Thanks. I carried the Canon, but I also knew that I'd want to be posting to facebook "live", so I was capturing with both cameras. I must say that even unretouched like these photos are, they're great when you consider that they come from a phone. The guy sitting next to me with his Note II, wow, that's a big phone. But no doubt mine takes better pictures.

What is the mechanism that you guys are using to attach images to posts here? I've had mixed success in posting images. Thanks.

The max resolution is the same whether you're taking a close up or not. Are you saying that you're having trouble getting sharp pics when taking close -ups?

Depends. If I'm on PC, I just attach the pic. If I'm on phone, it's more of a pain. If the pic is already uploaded to SkyDrive I move to my public folder using the SkyDrive app, and get a share link from it as well and post the link. Wish there were a way to just attach pics from the phone, because I work in a bank - no WiFi.

I am a professional photographer, having picked the Lumia up last week I was excited to play around with it. While I do not believe the day light images to be on par with the iphone 5 camera, the low light camera is simply stunning.

I can promise anyone that a shot taken with an iphone during similar lighting conditions would have been much, much worse. The noise alone would have made the image unusable. While I wouldn't print the image, or use it for anything commercially, I was more than happy to share it with friends on facebook & twitter.

For those wondering how much difference there is between the lumia camera, and what I normally take on my travels (sony nex-5r for quick road trips such as this):

I highly doubt cell phone cameras will ever catch up with a camera with a full DSLR sensor. This was a long exposure on a tripod, something you could not accomplish with the Lumia. I have been pleased with the camera so far, and really look forward to digging into the other options and functions available.

Freddyfromutah, what temple is that in the background? Both pictures look really good!

No my images are coming up great in both close up and auto, I was just wondering if there were differences in resolutions between the two focuses but I guess not. Part of my question still stands though, what is the max resolution capability of the 928 when taking photos? Are all photos just automatically taken at this resolution?

Re: Pictures/Videos taken with your 928!

A few night shots around the house (all taken with ProShot, ISO 100, flash off, auto white balance). 1 second exposure time for the first one, 2 seconds for the rest. None have been retouched.

1 sec. exposure, very accurate in terms of color and amount of light.

Increasing exposure time to 2 seconds to allow in a little more light...

Some light coming from behind me (not nearly as much as it seems though).

Nice moonlight without the gradient of the previous pic.
