re: Pictures & Videos Taken With My Lumia 1520
What do you use for the HDR effect?
I've found the bracketing options on the Nokia camera app too slow, while apps like fhotolens offer way too much noise when attempting HDR.
At this point I'm using Windows Phone 8.1 Dev Preview along with Nokia Camera Beta (ver 4.7.1.3). Speed for doing Bracketed shots has been vastly improved, about 1/2 second between frames. Still not DSLR speeds but for landscape shots it's proving to be fast enough that if I'm going to do a landscape or skyline I usually do a bracketed shot now just to have the exposures handy if I want them.
I still haven't found a phone based app for HDR that I like and I tend to agree with your observations (too much noise, slow to process, trouble removing ghosts, etc...) So for the most part I bring photos into the desktop where the advantage of a big screen and fast CPU/GPU's still have the advantage.
Desktop software is a collection of things. I still use MS Digital Image Suite for a lot of stuff, but I also use Photoshop Elements on Occasion and for most of the HDR shots posted here Photomatix Essentials, which is inexpensive at $39, has a surprising number of filters, and is basically drag-drop when merging bracketed photos.
For Video I use a product called Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate for format conversion, compression and light editing and for heaver stuff I've been playing with Corel Video Studio for the last few months.
The PC I edit on is a beast (I've been an IT Geek all my life so having a killer desktop is a bragging rights thing) but none of the software mentioned here really needs anything more than a mid-range PC and (for the Video at least) a decent video card.
That's pretty much the toolbox I've been playing with right now. Probably more info than you wanted but what the heck.
