I struggle so much with that Panorama App. I was actually trying to get another shot on the right side, but after the 2nd shot, it directed me back left... I was like "ohh f$*@ you...". Didn't turn out too sharp either. Probably my hands though.

re: Pictures & Videos Taken With My Lumia 1520

Thanks NoRomBasic.

There's no such thing as too much info! I'll give that Photomatix program a try. I'm also on 8.1DP and have the Nokia beta camera app as well but bracketing is still pretty slow - even for stationary people with HDR to enhance the background in poor lighting situations there is too much ghosting.

A shame because in android, HDR is a pretty basic function built into every android phone I've used. I appreciate that the 1520 is taking photos at a much higher resolution, but it would be great if there was a HDR mode which turns off downsampling and would just take HDR shots in 5MP mode. Sometimes you just need an auto HDR mode when you don't have a lot of time to compose the shot/giving it to someone else to take and therefore can't afford to fiddle with the manual settings.

Actually, most camera built-in HDR mode involves simple post-processing. You can replicate the same result simply by under-exposing the shot (to make sure the highlight areas are preserved), and then recover the shadows through post-processing. The Nokia Creative Studio works pretty well for this purpose. Just edit the image on NCS and increase the brightness level until you get the desired result. The improvements can be quite dramatic and it only takes one simple step within the phone itself.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures taken before editing, and after simple editing with NCS. Although the pictures were taken with the 1020 but just to illustrate an example to give HDR-like effects to your photos which is possible with the 1520.

Video clip shot 1920x1080 at 30fps/19256kbps. (not sure how much YouTube compresses the video)

This was recorded on my 64GB Sandisk ((SDSDQUA-064G) Ultra microSDXC 8-pin Class 10 UHS-I up to 30MB/s Read and 12MB/s Write) that I bought for $48.19 from Amazon. With any kind of movement in the subjects, I find that there is very noticeable lag and dropped frames. Does anyone have better results/experience with the faster cards?

Erskine Falls along the Great Ocean Road. Victoria, Australia.

Used a slower 0.5 second shutter speed for the water curtain effect.

This literally took me two minutes to edit in Lightroom. First time I've been blown away with the 1520's camera. I think it's all about shooting in raw.

Not really the greatest photo I've taken but with the Mississippi cresting in Minneapolis/St Paul today the amount of water moving over the St Anthony Falls is pretty noteworthy:
