I am really disappointed with the new Lumia Camera 5. Features are great but the image quality is not so good. Lumia Camera Classic takes better pictures in low light - better colors, less noise, more details.

The first one is from Lumia Camera 5, the second one is from Lumia Camera Classic.

It takes a tripod and exactly the same manual settings to honestly compare the two. Plus unless someone corrects me - I think the actual algorithms are part of the firmware not the apps themselves, am I right? Though I know some apps will try to handle some processing too (e.g. ProShot).

Both pics are taken on auto, but they have same ISO and exposure time. I also thought that algorithms are same for all apps, but now I see that all pics in low light are better with Lumia camera classic.

Check the pic from classic where you see some unwanted lighting reflections on the 2nd pic. BTW all my pics are posted above are with camera classic as we haven't received camera 5 here

While my 830 is on a RMA, I looked through my picture I took a while ago, and found this one that I like. The focus is a little bad on the top of the ''grass'' tho, but it was windy, so the outcome is what it is.

Another example of Lumia Camera 5 degrading photo quality... The first picture is from Lumia camera classic, the second one from Lumia camera 5. Both pics have same ISO (800) and shutter speed (1/5). I think that the lower quality of Lumia camera 5 shots is because of compressing because Lumia camera 5 photo has 2.78MB and Lumia camera classic photo has 3.51MB!!!!

Yes, it does support it. You can save pictures in jpeg + DNG.

Last night was "the long night of architecture" in Munich, a night where several more or less impressive buildings can be visited at night for free, with free tours, exhibitions, etc. I must say I'm very impressed at the camera's low light performance, this thing is amazing! All pictures are taken free-handed with Lumia Camera 5. No edits, no filters, no enhancements, nothing - taken straight from the phone. The first one could use some editing, the other two look amazing without any Photoshop magic already.
