One thing I haven't had the chance to do yet is really test on the camera on my 830.

However, that said, I have to say that I'm disappointed by the photos I've seen here and elsewhere online. I'm seeing a lot of softness and lack of clarity in the photos. Now, that's not a knock against the photographers, just an observation on the camera. I'm not expecting DLSR quality, but so far I haven't been impressed at all (including the limited testing I've done with my 830).

Thanks for sharing, folks. :)

I have to agree with you. I returned my 830 the camera was a massive let down. I don't know what it is with Lumia cameras lately but the images seem so soft compared to the pin sharpness that Samsung or other OEM's produce. And no I am not a ****** of anything. I am very fussy when it comes to image clarity & find that despite using so called Pureview & Carl Zeiss lens(if it really is) I find sharpness lacking. Night shots are decent though. But another thing of note with the 830 is that after testing myself next to other phones and other Lumia's the 830 OIS seems poor. I don't know weather it is cos it is cheaper or whatever but when holding down the camera key half way it is still very shaky compared to the 930 etc. I think Microsoft are forgetting what Pureview actually is which was the 808 & Lumia 1020 with 41mp not this 10mp crap. I also found the images like the 930 quite dark lacking contrast. When bumping up the EV it then over exposes the sky

I am now looking for a new phone to replace my Lumia 720 and I am thinking about a 830. The phone itself looks great, but I'm not so sure about the ecosystem and overall speed. My 720 with 512 mb. of ram lags horribly nowadays when using IE and apps. Don't think that adding another 512 mb. will help much... And there is still no normal official instagram client available. But my biggest gripe is low-light photo quality. I like taking photos in the evening, and from what I see here, quality of 830 is just slightly better than of my 720, honestly.

Marty89, are you sure you are using the newest version of Lumia Camera? I haven't followed updates for a while and it all seems very confusing to me with Classic/New app and Full/preview Denim. Anyways, can I ask you to post some more low-light photos, please? You seem to know what you are doing, but if I can suggest, the best low-light photos I take with my 720 are the ones with ISO set to 400 and Brigtness set to -1.0.

Has anyone else noticed with the OIS on the 830 that it seems to not always work?? I've had times I've opened the camera and it's working I can see the OIS working. Then closing the camera and the next time I open it the view finder is extremely shaky. Is this a software issue?? Cos if it works sometimes and not all the time then maybe it is?? I don't believe my phone is faulty because I had the same issue noticed in a shop model too.

yeah, software bug. The final denim update solved this issue.
