There still seems to be some blur around the edges. That's either due to you moving or slight shake (keep in mind the L1020 does not have anti-shake).

You either have a smudged lens, a shake when you take the picture, not giving the shutter enough time to close or your software is messed up.

It could be all them...

As I mentioned the L1020 is a slow camera. Even on the 5mp setting.

On the whole though the pictures don't look too bad.

Ok will try the revovery, you have any tips to clean the lens on the inside ? outside looks clean.

Ok, im going to use the revovery tool now

Just keep in mind that normally these issues do arrive from the person taking the pictures. Not that I'm beating up on your abilities or anything. Even though my shutter is quick I can still manage to take blurry pictures if I'm too impatient.

It's just a reality of taking pictures. They take a bit of time if you want them to turn out right.

Yes maybe you're right, as i said maybe my expectations are to high coming from note 4 that can shoot pretty fast.

Lumia 1020 has its perks however, Note 4 is just as good if not better than the Lumia 1020 at picture quality (comparing 1:1 crops). Couple blindingly fast shutter speeds and the advanced auto mode and you have a hero

Tell Microsoft to update their image processing algorithms, because taking photos sucks on S4 devices.

The best still photo quality from Nokia is present on the 808... I really hope 940XL changes this nonsense xD

Sharpness is about getting light in fast. Which the Lumia 1020 is not really the best at. Try different ISO/ shutter speed settings

Ok did the recovery, now i ''am'' running Cyan. What do you think update to denim or is cyan for quality of the pictures better ?

Why not experiment and see which one brings better pictures? At the worst you can just flash the phone again. :)

I never had this problem with the Lumia 1020 I have used, for me its just as good as the Lumia 930 but Lumia 930 is best overall, I think your phone is broken, because blurriness was never present on the Lumia 1020 I used

Post up some pictures. I've never seen blurry pictures that weren't caused by user error, Including a dirty lens. :p

Cyan vs Denim didn't make much of any difference to my 1020 images, but I haven't done much comparisons. Denim wasn't supposed to bring any 1020 camera improvements, btw...

I already posted some images did you seen them ? Did you saw the last pictures ? you still think its broken ?

Here some more samples, just made.

Oh. Sorry, they didn't show on the Windows Central App.

Some look fine and some look like the camera was moved slightly after it set the focus point.

Or the lens is dirty.

The photos from a distance look fine to me. A couple of the close-ups could be a bit better.

"The reason why the 5mp photos look better is because the shutter is quicker and better for 'quick snaps'."
That's completely false. Shutter speed is the same, it's the one, automatic or selected manually. As usual with 1020, it takes half second for focusing and OIS, and two and a half seconds more to store the files on the phone.

I agree. 5MP photos on the 1020 are merely able to be saved faster... Does not shave off much time, still stuck with long processing.
Edit: Think PureView *umm duh* ;)))

DSLR have dedicated imaging processors for these tasks, however, Qualcomm does not have a SoC on the market that implements this hardware design.

This is why a Nokia 808 with a slow CPU and slower storage can take 41MP photos in half the time using significantly less battery.
