Problem Accessing Lumia 950

On several occasions when I try to access my 950, I swipe the display as normal, but then it displays the background picture only, with no keypad displayed.
Hitting the power button and trying again makes no difference.
The only cure is a soft reset/re-start.
Any ideas?
I am hoping I don't have to do a full reset and re-install, unless I really have to.

You don't mention what build you are on, is it an insiders build?

I have a 950XL and haven't noticed anything like this, so it sounds like something has gone wrong, but as you already have figured out a hard reset does cure most issues like this, maybe wait a few days and see if any other 950 users have the same issue, in the meantime make sure your phone is as up to date as possible.

Have you tried using the iris scanner as you already have a pin set up?

Is there a way of manually updating?
Using the "Phone Update" function says we are up to date.
