Query on car charger for Lumia 1520

Hi,

The wall charger specs show that the output is DC 5V, 1.5A.
I have not been able to locate a car charger which exactly matches this output requirement for the phone.
What I could locate is either
- DC 5V, 1A
OR
- DC 5V, 2.1A

So my question is
- Will the underpowered (1A) charger help? since in my opinion, it will take longer time for the phone to be charged due to low amperage
- Will the 2.1A charger cause any issue to the phone. My assumption is that a 2.1A charger is capable of supplying higher amperage, but the phone can take in only 1.5A. Bottomline, it should not affect the phone battery/life

Can someone validate my thoughts?

I have a car charger with dual ports: 2.1A and 1A also. I've noticed when I plug it into the 1A port, it indicates that it is charging, but when I'm running bluetooth, music, and a GPS app, the phone actually slowly lost battery life. When plugged into the 2.1A, it remains the same battery %. It will also charge when plugged into the 2.1A when not running any apps obviously. Anyways, the device determines how many amps it takes, so you can't overvolt/overcharge the phone. Same reason why ipad chargers work fine with iphones and ipods even though ipads use like twice as many amps.

I have been using a single port 2.1A car charger with my 1520 for awhile now because my older charger couldn't keep up. Just like the poster said above, the phone lost power. The 2.1A is much better. Especially with navigation running.

Update from my side.
I bought myself a Capdase 5V, 2.1A, Dual USB Car Charger.
Does the job and my 1520 is getting charged.

Hey guys, ill just chime in with a little clarification.

The device (phone) determines how much amperage (current) it pulls from the charger. Different phones will have different maxes.

The current rating on the charger, is the max current the charger can put out. You'll notice cheap ebay chargers are often 0.9 or 1A, meaning they will charge your device slowly compared to a 1.5 or 2.1A charger. (2.1A may be above the max for a phone, so may not utilise the entire 2.1A)
