Question about transfering hi res photos to another lumia 1020

Hi, newbie to the forums, and I feel like this is a newbie question.. but, hey.. The screen on my 1020 recently broke, and I just got the phone replaced (because it was cheaper for me to replace through insurance than finding a place to repair the screen. I only found one place who would do it and they said $240. Um, no) and I am about to send back the broken one. I already backed up all of my photos onto my surface 2. But my question is, is there a way to transfer the hi res photos from my old 1020 to my new one? I should clarify, I can transfer the hi res file, but its not viewable on the phone?.. That's my only question. Thanks in advance.

Did you try connecting both to a PC via their USB cables and doing a straight copy of the camera roll directory etc?

Yes, using file explorer, I dumped them all on my surface. I also had both phones plugged in via USB and tried to transfer both the hi res and 5mp photos to the camera roll. The hi res ones transferred, but are not viewable on the phone. Regardless, the phone was sent back and at least I have them all on my surface. Thanks for the responses though
