Questions about avatars

Hi folks,

I'm soon going to jump on the Windows 7 bandwagon (Lumia 900- yay!) and I have a question. I don't have an x-box (yet, but I'm working on it) and I'm wondering if you need one to create the avatars I see on everyone's profile (also I believe this shows up on your phone when you have an x-box account?).

Nope, you absolutely don't. Never owned an xbox, but still have an avatar. Silly little thing tbh but hey..

You can create your avatar on line at XBOXLIVE just sign in with your live ID and its in the social drop down list.

Just need to install the xbox live extras to do it on the phone. Seems silly they don't just have that built into the phone but oh well.

No, you don't need to create one as far as I know. Although, if you want to add friends and/or earn achievements on XBL, you will need to create a GamerTag (I think). In any case, I did everything from the Games section of the phone, so I don't think it will be a problem.
