rdubmu

I got that pm from him last night. I thought his apology when he reported a post a while back was ok, nothing special but honest. When the guy got banned from the blogs, he posted in that thread. Basically told everyone how he screwed up and that you have to contribute when you post. He's still active and helpful in the forum. To be honest, he's more active than some of the current ambassadors. I don't have any issues with him at present.

Decided enough was enough because of his language.

EDIT: Oh god I messed up. Dave, please reverse the warning (I made a misjudgement thinking it was a new thread and saw Palandri's post thinking it was a new post, browser failure. Sorry!)

I removed it you need to be a little more careful I am trying to decide if we can add him back to the Ambassadors team you giving him an warning has got to be freaking him out. Did you sent him a PM explaining this was a mistake?

Augi is that a no on letting him back in to the Ambassadors. I will tell you this he is a bit if a baby about the situation. Twice in PM's he told me he was going to leave the forum. Like a care if he leaves. It was really more of a threat he was trying to bully me with "I'm leaving". I explained this to him he was receptive and responded very well in an intelligent and calm manner. He is listening to what I am telling him, bottom line he is still here putting up with all of this and still trying to be a contributor so he is dedicated. Past history tells me that if we can get people like this to understand the issues they learn and some have become great contributors.

You've been communicating with him, so have better feel for him than I do. Like always, I'll back any decision you make on him. How old is he?

Yes, after seeing the timestamp and realising my error I immediately PMed him with an apology and explaining the error I had made. He seemed calm but explained it had been sorted by you before.

I don't know from his comments I am assuming he is younger. His last few PM's seamed a bit more mature like either he sees his mistake or maybe he got some help from an adult. Either way he is making a solid effort. I am not saying we are over the hump with him he might make more mistakes but he is at least open to learn and improve. What more can we ask from anyone.

I really think a minimum age of like 18 should be set for the Ambassador program. I think we need mature people to be Ambassadors. We don't want Ambassadors running around saying RT sucks. Just my 2 cents.

I think his PMs to me previously and now this group PM - does sound like he knows what went wrong. I am not sure about letting him in and how the team feels, but personally I have no issues to let him in again. Keep a close eye and if he is going to abuse it again, I would be the first one to give the ban hammer to Daniel for his favorite use!

Also he said "Window's Phone" :(

This guy really wants to be an Ambassador again. We have exchanged PMs monthly about this. He sent me this today.

Dear Moderators and Administrators and all others,

A few months ago I was using the report to moderator button to let you know about my displeasure about closing threads. I definitely had bad judgment and I used some terms that should never be repeated at WPCentral because all of you do a great job on this website. I understand that many of you are volunteering your time to make this website a better place. I really appreciate all you do for this site and forum. Dave first reached out to me after I had made the comment. He did take away my Ambassador title as I didn't act the way a Ambassador should act like. I fully agree with Dave's Decision. Dave also let me know to this day some of you are still upset with my comment. I wanted to clear the air. That comment isn't something that should represent me even thou I know it may follow me. It isn't something I believe in even thou I said it. Some might ask "why did you type that?", I really do not know why I acted so stupidly, nor was I thinking at the time about other people's feelings. I feel really bad looking bad about what I said. I made a bad judgment call as well as a bad decision. I know that many people hide behind their keyboards but I do not ever want to hide behind a keyboard. I am fortunate that none of you have kicked me off this website or banned me. I believe that I have been a better "citizen" on this website since Dave first approached me. I have been trying to be helpful as well as supportive of the other members of this website. Once again, I hope you all can forgive me for my actions. I did make a mistake and I have learned from it, this doesn't make it right nor does this make everything perfect again, but I hope with this apology plus my future actions you all can forgive me with time. I know that Dave will not let me back into the Ambassador program and I understand the consequences. Once again, I hope you all can give my actions and this will not happen again. I will see you guys in the forum and lets work on improving Window's Phone marketshare! :)
Sincerely,
Bobby Mutton

Got a ditto message in PM - I think it's been sent to everyone of us, no?

The age thing is a good point I think I will make this a rule going forwarded. I think 16 is old enough though provided quality post participation prior to being appointed. What do you all think is 16 old enough or do we need to hole it at 18 or older. I am just going by my kids here by the time they were 16 I would have let them join they showed enough maturity plus this is a good learning tool for young people. Thoughts?

I am going to message rdubmu and see if he is still interested then go ahead and let him back in. It seams like everyone is okay with that.

I'm good with 18 if that's where we need to go. Or a case by case basis. If I remember correct, Wandering Traveller posted in a thread he was 14. I never would have guessed it, he acts more mature that others. On the other hand, kem is 15 or 16 and acts every bit of it. With the new ambassador initiative going on, and ours being compared with the other forums. I would just like to make sure we have our best representation out there. That our guys are not just holding their own but representing WPC in the best light possible.

Age really can't be used as a factor to determine how mature people are since various socioeconomic factors cause all of us to mature at different rates. For example I've met 15 year olds that were more mature than 22 year olds, lots of these around here in Chicagoland. So 14 should be good IMO especially since TV-14 rated programs cover all sorts of mature topics.

Based upon Alexa's rankings, WPCentral's audience tends to be younger.

It would probably help keep younger people interested in the site (and Windows Phone) if there were younger Ambassadors. Plus, if these young folks stay with the site and the platform that will only help with growth, marketshare, and the whole issue with apps.

LOL! Who would you rather take electrical advice from? A 30+ year IBEW Union Electrician like myself or a a mature 14 year old that's done some reading and little electrical work in his house?

I think it all depends. How about that 17 year old UK kid who made $30M from Yahoo for his Summly app?

Then there's the 18 year old Indian-American girl who invented the 20 second cell phone charger.

On a serious note. Dave I really think you should run the age thing past MN. There may be child labor issues or parental permission issues with using a minor under 18.
