Receiving emails but taking a long time to come through to my laptop

Just updated to windows 10. Using Outlook 13. I am receiving messages but they seem to be only coming through once a day all together. Is it a setting? Before I would receive emails almost immediately after being sent? Do not know what the problem is. By the way I am not very computer literate
