Reception on M8 vs Icon

Is it just me, or for those that have used both phones, is there a difference in reception on the M8 vs. the Icon? It seems to be weaker and I have more times when people have trouble hearing me because the signal is weak. I was sitting in the movie theater last night and my M8 was going between 1x and 3g. My wife's Icon was showing a good LTE signal.

My first thought is, stay off your phone in the theater....

That said, I get fine reception vs. everyone else around me.

It is possible the aluminum constructions slightly hampers signal.

I think both have excellent signal, but now I'm wondering if the shell case I used on both phones helped in any way with the metal of the phone by shielding it. Your M8 in a case at all?

I haven't noticed any drop in signal strength since switching from the Icon to the M8. Both are solid in my area.

No case on my M8. Even in my office, the M8 is weaker and my calls have some trouble. Maybe I have a bad one, I don't know.

I am not sure on the Icon but my last three phones were IPhone's and my M8 has better reception then those did. I work in a metal building and my iPhone would always loose connection, my M8 stays connected all day.
