Replacement back plates

If I got the phone I wouldn't mind picking up a few extras and painting them myself in different colours.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info in this thread - just ordered a white back plate for my new 830. :)

I ordered a white back cover on ebay for $30, since I got my clear NGP incipio case, I'm thinking of getting the orange back cover to show off the back color and also to complete my collection...

I also ordered the Orange and White from an eBay seller in Spain. Saw a spare battery on there as well but didn't pull the trigger on that.

i seen that seller with those from spain too, I was going to order the white one but I'm unsure what the price was cause its in euros or something like that lol. How much is it in us money? thanks

I just ordered from one of the new China sources on ebay that popped up. $12 including shipping for orange. Not sure what I'll get. It will take a while for shipping until I can post about it.

the one from Spain will be
Price:US $13.59 Buy It Now
Shipping: $10.30
Total $23.89

which is similar to others listed on ebay.

Edit: The guys from China claim theirs is OEM. Not sure if they know what that means....

I bought a an orange one from the guy in Spain and it had issues with the Qi charging mechanism. The ones that came with my at&t model work perfect. I'm not sure if these back covers are originals or copies. I noticed the contacts on the back covers are different compared to the at&t back plates. Buyers beware...

Dam lol, I just ordered two of them last night!

Messing with them I noticed with a case and the phone positioned at a angle it detects the qi and charges the phone, but if you were to get a call or notification it would fall(using a Nokia DT-910). If you have a DT-900 it should detect it at a desired position when the light is lit...

Received my white 830 back plate less than a week after ordering it, which was surprising and impressive considering it came from the UK (ordered from "Fonejoy" on eBay). Fit perfectly and looks great.

Unfortunately, though, wireless charging is flaky at best, which is a deal-breaker for me. I have DT-900 and 910's all over the house. It was my favorite thing about my 920, the reason I didn't buy a 1020, and part of why I justified the 'sidegrade' to the 830.

I popped the original covers from AT&T back on and both the green and black work perfectly. Super bummed out because I much prefer the look of the white back, but hard for me to choose form over function.

Anyone had any better luck with replacement backs and charging? Or anyone have a white back they want to trade for green or black?

I contacted them and they said those covers were tested on the international model (rm-984), in the us we have the rm-983 and they didn't test it on that model. I was comparing the at&t covers with the ones I ordered and they seemed to be different. The contacts on the covers looked different. I kept messing with the contact needles and ended up breaking one side, so I ended up putting foil tape on it and it worked again. On the cover I ordered I ended up lifting up the contact on the cover and raising it a little to make contact on the needles on the phone and that method worked a lil better. I'd say it works 75% of the time. I still have to play around with the phone on the qi as charger to get the led light lit.

For what it's worth, I ordered an orange one from a supplier in England and having the same issues with the wireless charging. It does work but it's very flaky. I usually have to take the phone on and off of the charging plate (the DT-900) several times to get the charging light to stay on.

FYI (L830 AT&T variants with international back covers): If you're using the Nokia charging stand (DT-910), position the phone at a angle until the charge LED is lit. Leave it like that for a few seconds and reposition it in the vertical position it should be and the phone should stay charged. That's the only way I found to charge my phone with these back plates. If you're using the AT&T back covers they don't need to use the same method, they just charge right away when you drop the stand...

Thank you guys for the heads up on wireless issues on those covers.
I've also found this professional looking German shop:
00812N0 Nokia Lumia 830 - Battery Cover Orange

They claim it's original but I'm not sure as how would they get those parts considering Nokia isn't selling them officially. Maybe those are all the same as the ebay sellers are selling?

On top of that, anyone had a chance to find&test an extra battery?

I wonder if all those who buy these covers and have issues are using the AT&T RM-983? The wireless charging is one area the 983 differs from the 984 and 985, AT&T having added PMA in addition to Qi. I wonder if the charging coil is also slightly different in the backplates?
