I looked at mine after Your post...
Mine screen is a 1mm of the body in one point at the top of the screen also.
Maybe it is because of the heat....the glue wears off?
Have you notified MS or made a claim? You should if you have not. Your message may also carry more weight considering your authority to purchase more, or rather the authority to deny an order based on your experience with the product.WOW..Guess I am NOT going crazy after all.
I had my SP3 closed but with the back facing up at me. I had my hand on the back and was rubbing it across the back to clean it when I noticed this "unevenness" or Warped back to it. I never noticed it before, but I do now. If you have it open with the keyboard cover, the warping for mine is on the back upper right side. Ripples when you move your hand down it.
Now, I have many issues with mine, but not anything to do with the screen. My original device had yellow banding on the left side. Replaced it and went away.
I just think the thing that really is terrible is that we pay $1300 for this device. I was fully willing to pay that price, and over time, I have come to regret my decision.
I was going to sign off on a PO to order 28 of these for our field sales people but pulled back on it and let them keep their Mac's for now. Just don't trust these and I don't want to lose credibility with my staff.

Apparently you only want to complain rather than utilize the obvious solution. How do you lose credibility by returning a device with an obvious defect? This is not a matter of earning the "benefit of the doubt". I would suggest your company needs to review their return policy if they actually question a customer who wants to return/replace a defective product no matter the number of times.

Lets hope sp4 irons out some of the qc issues sp3 had and also remedies the horrendous cpu/gpu throttling of sp3. I returned mine as well.
Here's another one to add:
I had 100% battery, put it into sleep mode (closed the lid...even looked to make sure it did in fact shut down the screen), drove to airport, boarded plane, flight home, slept, woke up, turned on at 7am, and I have 92% battery. How does that happen? Again, BEFORE the latest update I'd have the 100% and MAYBE 99% (on occasion it would lose a % or 2). Now? Losing 8% in deep sleep state?
I have also been on the SP3 just on this site since 7am..that was 35 minutes ago. My battery was at 92%...It's now, 35 minutes later, at 80%. 12% loss in 35 minutes using the web?
I mean, come on..let's look for solutions already. I'm not the only 1. Googled this and it's everywhere.
I didn't notice it at first, but my surface did indeed come out of the box warped. I first noticed it when I saw the glass at the top of the device (near the front camera) wasn't flush with the magnesium chassis like the remaining three sides of the device were. I do occasionally carry it around, but I doubt that this warping could be a result of my own usage, I never put it under any physical strain that might cause bending.
I am certainly interested in sending it in, but I am not very clear of how the whole process works.
