Still no decent messaging support

Android and iPhone and even BlackBerry have strong messaging support but unfortunately WP8 still doesn't except for SMS. Kik doesn't update live tiles, whatsapp doesn't work fully and properly (especially with its audio API), IM+ requires long email addresses that people don't really use anymore for instant messaging when there are services like whatsapp that automatically add your contacts based on phone number. The old and new BlackBerry devices have BBM which to be honest still hasn't been beaten conclusively for its overall quality. SMS is excellent on WP8 but when it comes to international text its a no go.

The only hope I see is in Skype. Lots of android, iOS and now BB10 users use it so that's the only end in sight but right now its a mess with the preview release and all.

I aren't 100% sure, but I do believe that WP8 has a way to integrate into the messaging hub via an API. I know there is an option for VoIP.
