Students get 10% off through Microsoft Store

What's frustrating is that there isn't a Microsoft store close to my school. Hopefully I'll be able to apply the discount online..

"Hey nuprotocol, you can apply the student discount on Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 through Microsoft Store's call centers 1-877-696-7786. You just need a valid .edu address or you can visit a retail store."

Got that reply on their FB page. Go ahead and use that number.

My brother is a teacher at a high school. His email extension doesn't end in .edu but .us. He called support and the person said the student and staff discount only applies to College. Why would this be? One would think high school students that have used Microsoft products and seen how they are used (my brother wants to get a surface pro 2 and use a projector with it and write on the tablet to show it up on screen for the kids) would more easily adopt future Microsoft products. A senior's next phase in life is college and that student will likely need a computer. My brother could go in the class room with a Mac computer or a Surface - I would think from a marketing standpoint and getting kids hooked on seeing the technology work might help get loyal followers at that stage in life.

Was my brother's customer support person just wrong or does this discount only apply to colleges?

Thanks for this! Just ordered the 64 gb for $500 which i think is pretty sweet considering that's what the original 32GB surface and a 16GB iPad cost:-)

I tried using the student discount on pre ordering both Surface 2 RT 64gb and Touch cover 2 (charcoal). However, only Surface 2 RT got discounted. Did anyone else have this problem?
