So what would you do with a Surface? I am an artist so using a stylus on a screen is an important ability to have. I also edit videos, so that requires some good computing power. What you don't hear much about is gaming on the surface. I wish they would make expandable modular video components so the graphics could be expanded or the surface could be docked to become a more powerful gaming device. That would be the perfect dream machine.

Don't know whats really best for me as a student. I have the SP4 but I'm finding the surface laptop very tempting. Not getting along as much as I expected with the SP4.

Ok so the Surface Laptop is just a piece of art, most people get that. I would love to see a new version if this product running Windows 10 for ARM with the Snapdragon 835. Cannot believe they achieved full blown Windows in ARM. Will be fantastic for general use and travel providing the battery holds up like other ARM based devices :-D

I love the design of this device and as a fan of the Surface line of devices I think this is a logical step. Some of the deign choices we can question, like the lack of USB-C and why make a system with 4gb. Other than that I understand why Microsoft made this device. The unique color choices are awesome too. I'm glad they didn't go with the tired Rose gold thing.

But other than the hardware the most intriguing aspect of this is the Operating System. Windows 10 S. I want to know how many feel, about this. I have my opinions but will love to hear from others first.

The new Surface looks very good, bit like the Dell XPS form factor. Would like to see one soon. Still hoping for a new Mobile Device (Phone capability) or new Surface Phone from Microsoft as well.

well they don't HAVE to be meaningless :) Also I think at the end of the day they want to get membership rates up and hope that maybe some portion of the members would enjoy the forums and stay.

There is a very slim chance that a Windows Central staff member might read this, but in the event that one does, here's my entry.

The Laptop That Can Replace The Tablet That Replaced Your Old Laptop

The anticipation is absolutely killing me! Alcantra leather, a 512GB SSD, 16GB of RAM - more than enough for my productivity needs, and you can't forget about that Graphite Gold! A truly premium device made by Microsoft themselves!

Being a high school student, you can see the struggles that occurs when we have to type up essays. Would be great with the Office deal that comes with the system.

Still a shame it doesn't come with Windows 10 Pro out of the box. I hope this is included.

Good luck to all the other competitors!

I would be quite happy with a free surface laptop. However, I am curious about whether it is better than a surface pro 4 or surface book? I suppose it really depends on what you would use it for. I really like the idea of a surface book, but I probably wouldn't use it as a tablet much.

Is anyone else disappointed that there is no USB C / thunderbolt 3? Definitely a mistake Microsoft. Now we can't use an external GPU enclosure. I wanted to upgrade my Surface Book but not sure anymore....

I'm an Architecture student who does a lot of 3D modeling so a Surface laptop would be great, hoping to win this as my HP laptop I currently use is starting to show it's age.

Well I'm sorry to pop your bubble but a surface laptop will not give you enough performance for your 3D jobs. You need a MacBook pro or a gaming laptop

It might not be that good for gaming - it'll do as well as the Surface Pro 4 because it's almost exactly the same specs (albeit with newer processors). The Surface Book is what you'd want if you want to do a bit of gaming (and based on reviews, don't expect a whole lot from that either in terms of super high end performance).
I mean, it would handle Age of Empires II HD and things, but getting into anything moderately serious you're in for a struggle because of the integrated graphics. I tried to play Dark Souls 1 on my Surface Pro 4, and unfortunately it was a little too much for it. But all the Age of Empires games work great, which is a big deal for me. The only thing I'd play on a portable device anyway.

Hi Arrogance! The Surface Laptop would be less powerful than the Surface Book models that have a dedicated GPU, and it would be about equal to the Surface Pro 4 (except for the newer generation of processors, which wouldn't be a massive difference).
