I always try have two devices, a desktop or now days, larger laptop; and a smaller more portable one. I find that when I work on my primary machine (and either one could be primary for a lot of tasks), the other is plays the role of email, music, quick research checks, etc... This secondary role has been my aging SP2 and to see the demo of the SL has me smitten. And not even needing the highest spec'd out one, the i5 256 would be totally adequate for what I want in an SP2 replacement.

I prefer a Desktop + Tablet + No Flagship Phone + Rugged Camera combo. However, Surface Laptop makes me think about laptop.

For someone creative, I think this is a excellent laptop. My Asus burned up, 4th Asus that got to hot and burned up. Done with them. Now I am working from tablet until I new one. I think pen and the power of the surface pro suits graphic designers well.

What does everybody think about the one USB port and lack of USB C? I actually totally understand Microsoft's point when they say they wouldn't want third-party chargers to damage the reputation of the brand. However at the same time I don't know how you can omit it in the current climate and at the same time claim it is future proof for four years

Currently, I'm working on AVR, adruino etc microcontrollers. Looking for a decent laptop to run Proteus, avr studio etc stuffs. This got enogh power for that.

I think that Surface Laptop is a great machine, but I would immediately upgrade to Win 10 Pro.
