Surface Pricing

Some people have a huge difficulty with products that don't fit into perfectly square molds. But its confusing... Come on. You are just showing you have no understanding of the difference between a tablet and tablet PC. So if a $100 dollar phone came with an attachable keyboard it would be a laptop by your definition. Give up the argument. It was lost from the beginning. Its a tablet PC. It runs full os. It simply allows you to have the portability of a tablet with laptop power and functionality I a full fledged os. Yes you get to choose which keyboard you want. That's called customization. And thin laptops/ tablet PCs always have a premium. Deal with it , accept it, the world will not end because a product is innovative and doesn't fit your preconceived notions of what it must be.

Some people will never understand new things. At least people are finally onboard with the idea that the Earth is round.

You are extremely wrong and this is why. Microsoft spent an hour explaining the lapability of the SP3 and how it was lighter than the macbook air 13. He spent most of the time showing the keyboard and the surface in tandem. It was the main part of the marketing release video. The iPad was never mention and neither were any other tablets. Now if he would have talked about the SP3 on its own and at the end shown the colored type covers then yes I can see it not coming in the package but thats not the case. They aren't giving anything away, they are full filing the advertising that was given to us. The front page of microsoft.com has a SP3 with a blue type cover attached. This is Microsoft's biggest chance to have industry leading hardware and software but the price needs to be right. I real hope this product makes it. View attachment 67436

I'm not sure which video you watched....the whole event was just over an hour and about 5 minutes was spent talking about the keyboard/lapability....I just watched the whole thing.

None of what you say justifies why an accessory should be given away for free. MS is saying the cover costs $130. They want to sell you an item that will make the surface a better device than without. You havent explained to me why a buyer should not have to pay for a device accessory. All you have said is that it is an expectation based on a presentation. MS has never said it would be free. Think about it this way, they said look at how great this device is with the keyboard. It is amazing with the keyboard and it is really best with the keyboard....and you can add it for $130. People ASSUME that it would cost nothing more.

It's not an accessory it's a necessary part of the product if it's marketed against laptops and MacBooks.

I don't care if it runs a full so or not, it's not a laptop if it doesn't have a keyboard. Yes it doesn't fit in a world where your so called tablet PC doesn't have a keyboard. Your arguments have no place in real society. In the comforts of a Microsoft forum it does but try to sell it to someone who is in the market for a $800 PC or a sub $500 tablet. Good luck

Right, and now they are debundling the kinect and the XBOX one price without the kinect is reduced. So by the same token, if the keyboard was bundled with the surface, the price would reflect that, and buyers would in fact be paying for it. But thats not what some people here are suggesting. They are saying throw in the keyboard at that same cost so they dont have to pay extra. That is the same thing as wanting something for free.

The exact reason the PS4 is outselling the xbox. No one wants to pay microsoft prices or their accessory games.

For all the people griping about ms being deceiving showing the type cover on tv and then charging for it. Do you go into a car dealership and expect the top end Malibu with all options and extra $2000 rim options they showed on tv and expect it for the price if the base model with nothing? But I saw it this way on tv and they said it starts at 19,000. Yeah, good luck. That logic only works for forum arguments and dreams. The point of advertising is to grab someone's attention and show what a product can do. And the models shown are always the top end with all the goodies added.
Ever go into a tech store to buy a laptop and they charge extra for the keyboard? Ever buy a hamburger without the buns? Cause that would be ridiculous to expect buns or lettuce? Ever go buy a television set without a remote? Ever go into a car dealership and have to pay extra for the steering wheel or wheels? using your logic the SP3 is a tablet that costs anywhere from $800 to $1999......it's going to flop and it's going to flop bad. People need to hold Microsoft accountable for its bad marketing and pricing decisions if you want them to succeed. Right now the only one I would buy would cost me $1500 so I would rather have my MacBook and my iPad mini. Still cheaper and I have a great tablet and a great Mac. Not a in the middle hybrid all season tire that doesn't really excel at any one thing.

We will have to wait and see whether or not Surface Pro 3 is a good selling product or not.

It definitely has its uses for some people, although other people might not consider it to be useful for the price it costs.

It is now up to Microsoft to market the product, and convincing consumers that it is worth the price is what marketing is all about.
