Surface Pro 3 Firmware Updates

Ok. So ONE TIME that I restarted my Surface, I didn't have to turn wifi off and back on. After shutting down and/or putting to sleep several times since then, I've had to do it each time. Ugh.

Too bad...I know they claim that there will still be WiFi problems, but the firmware seemed to take care of the MAIN one (the sleep WiFi issue) for me. I have not experienced the other WiFi issues..or at least not to the level that they would actually bother me during normal use. Must be router specific and I'm just lucky that my home and office WiFi is in synch with the initial fix?

Last night I was on the campus of a tech school for a meeting when I ran the update. When it restarted, it reconnected fine. But when I got home, the school's wifi was still showing connected, but wouldn't do anything (of course) and then switched to limited (but never dropped). This morning, again, I had to turn off/on wifi to get it to work. I just hope they fix it with the patch on the 16th.

Search for Windows Update. Tap the one that says Windows Update. In the upper-left corner of the Windows Update dialog, tap View update history. That will show the most recent updates. In the lower-left corner is the option to show all updates. However, I find the layout of that list to be hard if you are looking updates on a specific date.

Thanks, looks like I have the firmware update from 7/8.

My wifi is still acting up. Same as before. Limited connection or at times disappearing completely including Bluetooth. Looking forward to the upcoming updates.

I also have the same issues despite the 07/08 updates including the firmware. Waking up from sleep shows "limited" wifi; turning wifi off and on fixes it quickly. While this is more of a niggle, the real issue I have is with the wifi throughput that gets restricted to 6 mbps or less on battery plus it varies all the time - it is simply not steady. Since power settings show only the "balanced" option, I did a google search and found a command line prompt that enables us to add the "high performance" power plan option. With that setting, the wifi throughput is restored to normal speeds while on battery. Rebooted the SP3 this morning and that setting was gone - apparently, that setting is not persistent. Also tried Microsoft support. As asked, uninstalled the Marvell network adapter and then restarted but the wifi issues persist.
another issue with Bluetooth - my normally reliable LG Bluetooth headset HBS700 keeps turning on and off and sometimes with the red blinker despite having adequate charge. Don't really know what's going on there...Hope the 07/16 update fixes these issues..

Got a hardware update from Windows Update this evening. There was no explanation. Anyone known what that's about?

The only things I have this morning are a defender update and a dictionary update. Still waiting on the fix for my wifi problem. With my luck, I'll have to wait two days, since I had to wait two days for the first firmware update this month. :straight:

Just got the new firmware update. These rollouts really seem to be luck of the draw - took me 2 to 3 days for the last one, but this one I got almost immediately.

Anyone else have issues loading the updates? I updated my SP3 a day or two after launch day, but I haven't seen any updates since then. When I go to search for updates, it just continuously loads and never says whether there are updates or not (which there clearly are). I'm running a Windows update diagnostic tool right now to see if it can find and fix the problem.

Mine apparently just updated when I checked... did the restart as requested. We'll see if it makes any discernible difference.

just did the same - installed, restarted. Initial observation: Now it appears WiFi is not throttled to 6 Mbps - I had this issue previously and initial experience seems positive. let's see if the "limited" wifi connection issue will appear or if that is solved too

I just got the firmware and another definition update. After several sleep/wake cycles, as well as shutdown/startup cycles, I've determined that my wifi problem is not improved (well, maybe the speed, which I haven't tested in all this). If I shut down, when I start back up the wifi works immediately. If I put it to sleep, when I wake it up I have to turn wifi off and back on - it is "limited" until then. And by limited, I mean there is no connectivity. I was really hoping this would fix it.

I'm tempted - a little bit, not much - to reset the computer. But I've got so much installed... Visual Studio 2013, Telerik DevCraft, SQL Server 2014 (not set to run, but just installed with service set to manual start), and so much more - those are just the biggies. I'm starting to ponder whether Hyper-V is causing the problem, but not much I could do about that without uninstalling VS.

Hmmm...I could swear the updates from a couple of weeks ago fixed any startup WiFi issues I may have been having.

Really strange I never experienced the Wi-Fi connection problem being talked about. I don't know about the speed issue because I've never timed mine but in my use it seems to be perfectly fine. I just got the hardware update today and everything seems to be working as well as it did before.

Does the firmware auto update or can it be pulled manually? cannot even figure out how to update anything.

I got the firmware update today and the problem with losing the wifi connection still exists. This is quite upsetting.
