Syncing Individual Email Folders

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble syncing up my gmail. Here is the scenario,

I have both my gmail and hotmail to sync emails from "Last seven days" to avoid clutter.
I have a folder set up with important emails that are older than seven days.

I tried to manually sync the folder but its not pulling up my old important emails unless I change the original sync settings to include that date such as "any time"

Is there a workaround this using flags?

The timeframe applies to all synchronized folders; there isn't a way to specify different time values for different folders, at least not that I know us. (I also don't believe that WM6 could, so it seems like it's not something that MS worked on in the past.)
