I was about to go to bed until I checked for updated on my surface pro 3 and it says I can install windows 10 pro, only from desktop though... So not going to bed yet! But not on my replaced venue 8 pro which is on 10240 and even started on 9926. But all I care about is my SP3 now!

Okay I'm back after being on the phone with MS support. Basically they're aware of the issue, and did some of the things in this thread to get the ball rolling (note: it hasn't gotten up to the install button yet ). First, they ran wuauclt.exe /updatenow and then checked for updates to no avail. Then they ran the troubleshooter which found some errors (basically WU didn't have admin rights to FINISH the update so it could install), after which the Windows 10 app immediately prompted me to download the files through Windows Update.

Edit: Surface now has the screen "configuring update for Windows 10" at 25%

Mine is getting installed! 23% as I type. Bello from Argentina! Those who are getting error ah the windows update, try yo restart and install that one little update that was screwing the windows 10 update. When it boots again it will start installing windows 10 automatically. That worked out from me. See u on the other side!

Getting this error in windows update log.
But the background activity checks for the update every 10min.
every time getting this error code.
