Hi all, I'm thinking about buying the SP3, type cover and desktop dock. Maybe even the arc mouse thing. Is the SP3 still a good buy or should I wait for the SP4? Anyone know when we might see the SP4? The SP3 model I'm looking at is the 256GB i5.

We have several at work. The i7 versions can't get warm. I don't see a point in having all of that processer with Intel graphics away. I think its a gimmick. We mainly issue out the i3 version and have no complaints on speed.

Id get the i3 but I don't think its enough storage for my needs. Thank you for your input. Hopefully others will chime in too.

I just got an i5 128gb with red type cover last week. (dropped my surface 2😢) I have to say I couldn't be happier! It has great battery life (once I disabled search index, I think my SD card caused an issue) the speed is great and form factor beat my expectations. I thought trying to read with my surface 2 was painful, so a.larger pro 3 would be horrible, but the 4:3 makes it awesome and even thought it is technically heavier by .2 lbs the thinness makes it seem lighter. Go with the 128 i5 and grab a 128 SD card that amazon puts on sale. I've seen them for 50-80$ lately by Sony, Samsung and scan disk.

Have you tried the desktop doc kthing by any chance? And thanks for sharing. I need to check the price of the 128gb.

No one here has any information about a SP4 if it even exists. Given existing release cycles though, and the fact SP3 is apparently meeting sales targets, you would likely have quite a few months to wait. Even the speculated chips will not be out until sometime in 2015 and Microsoft has proven to not be willing to rush the devices out early. That all translates into it being unlikely to even see an announcement until close to the one year anniversary of the SP3 release date....

I have returned almost as many SanDisk 128GB cards to Amazon since SP2 onwards. I finally have one that works consistently and even it is sluggish at times. I have also tossed multiple past 64GB cards after the exfat formatting became corrupted - both in SP2 and a Nikon DSLR. They are useful storage but people really should not treat them as bona fide extensions of internal storage....
