Transferring from HTC 8x to Lumia 925

Hi,

I used 8X for the past year and now I have bought Nokia Lumia 925.

I wouldn't call myself a WP Poweruser, but I have had my HTC 8X running the latest version of Preview for Developrs (note that HTC didn't get Cortana/Live Folders). I had backed up my HTC 8X and aimed to get it on my LUmia 925.

However - my LUmia 925 (which is a used phone, running Lumia Black 3051.40000.1345.10285 ) cannot see any backups that I have made on HTC 8X (in manage backups it just says 0). Therefore in the initial setup it doesn't pull any of my apps and settings (it pulls all the texts though). Why is that? Do I need to downgrade my Lumia?

Chances are the backups you made under windows phone 8.1 don't work with windows phone 8.0.
I would suggest that you install the dev preview app on your 925, and then upgrade to the latest version of windows phone 8.1.
Once you do that, hard reset your phone (it will not downgrade you back to 8.0), and when you sign in you should be able to see the backups from your 8x.
