Could not get it to work...solved!
LG Quantum here, was running update 7392 for quite some time.
I tried many times to get this trick to work. My wife's Quantum took to the trick fine (got it on my second time) but it would never work for me. A couple of times it looked like it work work. I would switch wifi off, and the Zune software would sit there on "checking for updates" for quite some time. By some time I mean sometimes it would sit there for 30 minutes trying to check, and it would fail complaining about losing the connection between my phone and the computer (although I'm using a solid micro USB cable, one from an Amazon Kindle that worked fine with my wife's phone).
I kept trying and trying and I got no where. I tried with wifi on and off (on the phone), airplane more and off, etc. and I would get nowhere. I probably tried more than 60 times throughout the week.
I then remembered how I originally picked up nodo. I did the operator hack where you modify a registry key to remove ATT-US from the phone back when AT&T was delaying the phone from getting nodo. Low and behold, I opened up the registry on my wife's Quantum and compared it to mine, and I never put that key back in. Once I put the key back in, on the first attempt at the Mango trick and my phone was telling me that an update is available.
It is now updating as smooth as can be. I just wanted to let people know in case they are having trouble with this, as they might be in the same position I was in.
