I am pulling my hair trying to get Continuum to work. Am using:
* Microsoft Lumia 950 phone
* Sony Android TV

Trying to connect via Wi-Fi direct. My phone can see the TV. I open the Continuum an try and connect to the TV wirelessly. The TV appears in the list of available devices. Then it just hangs. Nothing happens.

Can anybody suggest what I ought to be doing to rectify this?

Thank you all in advance.

The TV has to support Miracast or intel Wireless Display. Otherwise maybe your TV supports DLNA which is different, and you can use it to play videos/images audio etc with apps that support it (e.g. MyTube, Lumia PlayTo)

Or you can get a miracast adapter like Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter v2

dose your TV support miracast? If so, try to update the firmware of your TV, as well as try another device like windows tablet with miracast or another phone thru miracast.
I run continuum to my Samsung TV , work just fine.
you can always just buy a $10 USB-C to HDMI adaptor or $20 USB-C multi-adaptor for wired connection which I found more stable.

Hi guinnsquirrel

Did you ever find a solution? I have the exact same problem.

Sony Bravia KD55XD9305 (2016 model)
Android TV version 5.1.1
Lumia 950 (slow ring build 14965)

I have an older model Bravia, but I just want to make sure you're not doing what I did when I first tried this.

On your TV, you need change the Source to screen mirroring, then it'll tell you to connect to the TV. Once your TV is on that screen mirroring, you can then connect with your phone.

Even though your phone can see the TV, it first needs to 'sync' through this source before you connect and 'mirror display'

Hi

I already tried the method you described - no luck. Sometimes it says that I am connected but doesn't mirror my screen other times it says it is not able to connect?

Any ideas?

According to Sony those are the TVs that support WiFi Direct, which includes Miracast I think. And your model is not in there.
So guys, the first thing you should do is check that your TV does support it....

Google is your friend https://www.sony.es/support/es/content/cbt-tut/shared/connect-mobile-to-tv-via-wifi

Thanks daimv... Yes my TV does support Miracast. One of the reasons that I bought that model - to use continuum wireless.

The guide on Sonys webpage doesn't describe how to connect from Windows 10 mobile/Windows 10. But I think that I already know how to connect the devices - the problem is that they won't...

I also tried from my Windows 10 laptop and that is the same result. Maybe I have to wait for the Android 6.0 marshmallow update for the TV? I don't know if it is the firmware on my TV or phone that is causing the problem? I am after all on the insider preview on my phone (Slow ring). Maybe that has to do with the problem?

Have you connected to another device? Like a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, or from the phone to the laptop?

No... Don't have any other Miracast receivers to test on... :orly: Is it possible to cast from a phone to a PC?

Yes it is, with Windows 10. There's something like "project to this pc" or sonething similar. Although it doesn't work with my phone to my laptop... Strangely. Although there is an apo caller AirServer that does the same and that one does work.

Ahh.. Found it.. :) Thanks for the tip! Didn't know that it was possible! I just tried it in my laptop on work. Seems to be the same problem. :( But what I just discovered is that when the miracast connection fails it seems like the wifi on my phone kind of disables? It disconnects from the wifi network my laptop and phone are connected to. When I try to reconnect it doesn't find any available wifi networks? The wifi logo in the action menu does however say that there are available networks? If I try to turn the wifi off on the phone, the phone automatically turns it on again after I return to the homescreen and it still doesn't find any networks when I return to the wifi settings. I have to restart or soft reset the phone before any wifi networks shows up again.

So it seems that there is a bug in this build. I will try to report it to Microsoft.

I will try AirServer later today...

I have a similar problem with Lumia 950 and Sharp TV. It works in Continuum mode (laggy as hell), but I just want to mirror screen and when I choose the option is settings I get this...

It worked fine on Lumia 930.

Many of the Android based TVs use Firmware Based Whitelists (especially the Sony version) to allow connections and if the device isn't on the list it won't connect. We had this issue with attempting to connect most Windows 8/10 devices.

I'm not even able to get continuum mode to work. Just says it connecting. Is it too laggy to work with outlook or MS Edge?

Do you know if the list is available anywhere?
