Re: Unlocked 830 or ATT version

You can buy the unlocked ( 894 ), on ebay for 390.00. That's what I did and then I hooked up to straight talk, and glad I did. I did this after switching from Sprint, paying 90 something dollars a mouth for unlimited data. I realized I do not need unlimited data. I can have this phone paid off in 8 mouths, with ST's 45 prepaid plan, with what I would have normally paid in my Sprint contract.

Re: Unlocked 830 or ATT version

If AT&T had priced the off contract version even remotely sanely, I would have found a way to get over the black rim. Now, no go. I'll either wait for the price to drop for a RM 985 online, or I'll be up in Alberta in December and get a Fido RM 985 and get it unlocked. Even with GST and the unlock fee, it will be cheaper, after exchange, than what AT&T wants. That's how insane their price is.

How much for the Fido version? Will it work for AT&T LTE?

Don't forget to deduct the price you can get back selling the Fitbit Flex. I figure it works out to about $390 from AT&T

The 985 is a superior variant, think of it like the 983 bands are already included in the 985, plus you get additional AWS bands for HSPA+. Plus you get Qi which the 983 might not have (it hasn't been mentioned anywhere in ATT's site)

I don't think anyone knows what is in or not in the att lumia 830 at this point. I'm waiting for a pricedrop on the RM-895, simply because I feel the country variants get updated sooner then the att/tmo/Verizon phones. also, I've yet to have a good experience with an att phone when I've used it on a different network(internet sharing sucks when moving networks).

I've had several AT&T phones (previously android) that I had unlocked and had no problem with internet sharing.
On both (Samsung Galaxy S4 and Lexus N5) internet sharing worked fine with an AT&T sim and with other sims.

I also have a 635 AT&T phone and data Sense works fine on it.

:)

The att version will have Qi and PMA charging. Windows Central confirmed this. They aren't advertising Qi because they officially back PMA. I think after the stripped down 1520 they sell, they would be done taking out thinks. Drives people to buy online.

Don't believe WindowsCentral blindly till they have a proof. No one from the WindowsCentral team confirmed in the comments about the 830 supporting both PMA and Qi even after numerous people posting the same question. WindowsCentral has been wrong in the past and I still don't see them backing this claim either. Nevertheless I would be happy if the phone actually did support both standards which can be confirmed only after launch

Reviewers are starting to get their units now and one confirmed Qi works on Twitter.

I checked the local AT&T store this weekend. The 830 looks like a really nice device, despite the fact that none of the salespeople on the floor even knew it was on display. They said I need to come back next week if I want to see one, then I walked around and there it was.

Re: Unlocked 830 or ATT version

I also use Net10 and it has performed well for me....

EXCEPT! You can't tether your phone when using an MVNO (Net10, Good2Go, etc)

I may go to ATT when my month is up at Net10 and get the 830.

Re: Unlocked 830 or ATT version

I'm using NET10 (AT&T sim) on my L635 and can turn on Internet Sharing no problem at all.
I also tried my Samsung S4 (just removed the sim from the L635 and stuck it in the S4), again, no problem at
all with Internet Sharing.

:)

I'd personally argue that since you get better support from AT&T and get softcard support when you buy the AT&T version, that that's probably the preferred version.

The price is $450 off contract. if it was $300, I would already jump on it already. I refuse to pay $450 for a phone with that type of specification, although I would admit that the phone looks very nice.
