unlocked and only working with sim it came with please help!!!

my phone htc 8s on EE orange uk i got the unlock code and all went well it unlocked just the way it did on the you tube videos now it takes any sim card sets up the carrier settings but i dont get a signal just all bars gray and a circle with a strike through it even with a new sim from the same orange uk network is not working but when i put the orange uk sim that came with the phone in it works perfect

I got a L920 unlocked and noticed a similar degradation in signal quality, but not to the extent you mention. Try a soft reset if the phone and maybe a hard reset if HTC do that. Also, which network are you now trying to use? I was hoping to switch to Three but I get worse signal than I did on T Mobile where I live.

cheers buddy hard reset worked i'm changing to giff gaff o2 it looks like the best deal for payg internet
