update was not downloaded and phone memory became full, how to fix it?

Just clicked on download and the software update started downloading over wifi, but suddenly it's showed error downloading the update but the phone storage is full. Pls tell me how to free my storage space and download the software again?

Its upon the download size of an app.
You've twice the free space(in case of less than 2gb app) in your phone/sd card of the downloading app.
