I purchased an international edition phone off eBay which naturally came with the big power plug and an adapter to work in the U.S. Can I use the charger that came with my 925 on the 640 XL? I ask because as we all know the charger that came with it is a 750mA charger while the one with the 925 says its 1.3A. I also have a few spare Samsung chargers from the S3 and S5 which are rated at 2.0A.

You can use the charger from the 925 for 640XL can handle it. You "only" got a 750 mA charger because these are cheaper and to reduce the cost you did not get "higer" A charger.
If the chargers for your S3 and S5 are original Samsung chargers you also can use these but your phone will not use the 2.0 but only 1.5 A.
But be aware of very cheap "non brand" chargers they may charge your phone very slow.

You should be able to use any charger on any phone so long as it's not using a proprietary plug into the device.

The one that came with your device should have a voltage range and a Hz range on it. Most chargers these days are international and should be around 100V to 250V and 50/60Hz.

Just check the charger before using it though. It should be written on it.

I use charger from Lumia 920 and it works normal.
I tried before to charge 3 Lumia phones with Samsung charger and they act weirdly after, 2 of them stop showing battery status .right and they show it is full while it is not . Fortunately they return to normal status after I charge them with Lumia ones. Honestly , I don't know if this Samsung charger is original one or knock off.

Thanks everyone, I used then Nokia charger that came with my 925, and all seems good. Don't think ill try the Samsung ones.
