Hey guys!

I have a 1520 that suffers from the dreaded random reboot. Yesterday it looped for about 3 hours before I could get back into Windows, and today it has been going for 7 (and still going might I add). I really need to do something about this as the phone is not reliable in case of emergencies and someone needs to get hold of me.

My problem is that I had to have the camera replaced (genuine Nokia one that cost me ?90). Will this affect my warranty? Should I tell Microsoft or just send it in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks 😊

EDIT: I have tried turning off Wi-Fi and uninstalling the Bing apps, but this still happens.

Basically warranty can be affected by "un authorized" repair but if you used a genuine part it will probably be overlooked.
But a faulty SIM or SD card (if you have one) can also cause "random" restarts. Did you already check this?

Usually hard reset fixes this kind of problems. Have tried it? I think replaced camera will have affect on warranty, but should you tell them- dont mention it unless they dont ask..

Hey Harrie-S,
Thanks for the tip. How do I test the SD card to see if it's faulty? It seems to work fine on my Surface Pro 3. I have formatted it a few times both on the phone and on the Surface - would that fix any possible errors? I was under the impression that this was a common issue for the Lumia 1520.

Thanks. 👍

Hi Av2ry,

I have tried a hard reset about ten or so times, and also tried using the Software Recovery Tool. Unfortunately this hasn't helped.

Thanks for the suggestion - greatly appreciated 👍

Formatting should fix a problem with the SD card or use the Surface to check for non repairable errors. The best prove is to get the SD card out and see if you still get random reboots. It's bye the way also could be the SD card "holder" is "faulty. And the same you can do with your SIM, get it out and if you still have random reboots it's not the SIM.
But random reboots can have many root causes and you have to eliminate them one by one and hope that you find the root cause.
Hope you fond the problem.

Also you can download Lumia help and Tips and find out your warranty status.
