2 days ago I dropped my lumia 520 into washing machine. Then immediately followed all steps mentioned on the net- vacuum cleaner and rice sack thing. Now the phone is working, everything is working fine but the wifi and network are not working. All other apps, video, camera and volume are working. On switching on the wifi it says "Try in a little while. If the problem continues, restart your phone and try again." The phone is unable to catch network, it says "No service". I even did hard reset, even then it doesn't work. What to do?

As far as I heard from few IT friends, they are saying the ic's for wifi and network have short circuited. If I raise this matter to nokia will it be covered under warrant.Or can I lie to them about something.

Won't be covered AFAIK....pretty sure the phone has water sensors in it that will trip and the will see it when the open the phone

They will know and your warranty is probably void.

What is this vacuum method you mention?

The beauty of the 520 is the price among other things.
$60.00 or less depending on where bought.

Is it possible to simply obtain a new phone?
Might be a viable option.
Just a thot...

Finally took it to customer care. One of the ic got short(slight burn), said liquid damage and warranty got void. Phone is with them at present, will see what happens. Thinking of buying new one, will go for 525.

When your phone gets wet or falls in water. First thing, remove all removable component from it. Don't shake the phone, as this will cause the water to reach inner circuit. Then hold the phone in upright position, hold the vacuum cleaner nozzle near the opening(don't touch, maintain a gap of 2cm). Don't use any drier or blower as this will increase the drying time and further the water drop into the circuit. It will also heat up the device and can melt any delicate wire. This vacuum cleaner will suck all water.

I bought it for around $120. As this is the lowest cost in India.
