WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

For $150...sure, I'd take a flyer on it. Otherwise, it makes no sense upgrading from a fall 2014 tablet (Z3TC) to a fall 2015 tablet for THAT current asking price.

"I may be crazy, but I ain't stupid."
They should have dropped the price in sync with that to the basic 9.7" iPad. The current pricing for the iPad Mini is the epitome of Apple's greediness.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Yeah it seems like it has some hangups. It's a shame though because not everyone wants to carry around a bigger iPad. I really like the size of the mini.
I don't like the non Mini price of that tablet.

As much as I love the 8" form factor, based on what Apple is offering, I'd get a basic iPad. The value is better than the Mini 4.

The basic iPad is an awesome tablet for the price. You can turn off the notifications and put the standard entertainment apps (Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, YT) on it. Most of iOS gripes then disappear. And hey there's a headphone jack to boot! It still has a couple of shortcomings for my particular use case but should keep 99% of the people who buy it quite happy.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Yeah it does sound like you have a dilemma here. I wish there was a way you can test this out easily.
No dilemma really. I just need something with a good headphone jack.

When I plug the dongle in and use my basic Sony cans, the music sounds good on the Pixel and even better on the Mi Mix 2. That just tells me USB-C audio is a ways away. HTC is trying to be a leader with it via their U Sonic tech, but that's proprietary. 3.5mm has been universal from before they put them on phones.

Hardware wise, outside of the selfie camera, V30 has what I want. Software wise, LG treats updates like Melania does with Combover C's hand in public with world leaders watching.

I'll just wait it out. Sometimes I'm tempted to get a HTC 10 as a media player but those batteries need to be replaced...

The V30s rear cameras are a hit and miss. The selfie can is terrible as you said. I got rid of the V30 once I started taking side by side pictures with the Pixel 2. The audio quality is superb though. Also I wasn't able to get the font size and total amount of text displayed on the screen to my liking during my time with the V30.

I could likely use it by offloading all my games on to it. It's not bad...but way down the list of my priorities. Still, I'll watch Apple's announcement next month to see the new exciting ways they will want to work they way into people's wallets...

You and me both. May it keep me from doing something silly
Thankfully, it's next week.

The new G cam ports the last time I checked now work with the wide angle lens.

Oh, Pixel 2 ain't going nowhere. The best thing for me would be a Pixel tablet so I can get the best of both worlds..."stock"Android + immediate updates. Since that's a dead dream, I'm better off keeping the small Pixel as my pocket rocket. Still, I'd migrate to it for a more rounded package for my needs as a daily driver - to which the U11 has it. Camera is a step down from the Pixel, but is still in S8 territory. Audio is a step down from V30, but better than most. It just doesn't solve my no headphone jack issue though. Just annoying, I say...

My friend's son works for Apple in R&D now and is involved on the iPad line of products. But beyond that little nugget no more details.

Ironically I use the Idol 4s with Windows when I need to use the headphone jack.

This reminds me of when my mom used to be a personal chef to one of my favorite Hollywood couples. The closest I ever got to seeing an Oscar in person was in their apartment.

I don't know what was more impressive: the apartment's view of Central Park, the wood decor or that Oscar...

Sounds like you found a use for it after all. I would say that sometimes the little things bring value but for MIA, this is far from little.

It sounds annoying but I can relate. Why is it hard to find a phone that hits most of the sweet spots? I'm asking for you and me.

That's because OEMs are making phones to fit a certain type of people...not you or me.

I think I'll keep an eye out for a U11 at a decent price. Otherwise, I'll get a V30 or a Nokia 8 for S&G. If the Pro app port runs fine on the Nokia 8, it gets more appealing (although I still say the U11 is a better device).

The U11 is definitely better than the Nokia 8. I'm surprised that Nokia hasn't been able to get back to the glory days if their superior cameras from their WP heyday.

They haven't been able to until this year with the Pro app launched in the 7+ and 8 Sirocco. I read they had to recode the app for it to run on the Nokia 8.

I think sensor wise, what's in the Nokia 8 isn't bad...but if the app makes the camera useable...then it becomes a nice steal at the right price.

Nice steal at the right price is what I call my daily driver - 128GB Panda Pixel 2 XL

Finally managed to handle a Nokia 7+, must say it feels nice in the hand. That is all !!
