WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Is tea popular in France?

Missed this bit.

Yes tea is available in France. Cafes have it. It's not in the same way as the UK obsess over it but you can find quality teas here. There are tea shops where you can buy high end teas as well.

In the supermarket I've noticed that the bigger selection tends to be herbal teas over traditional teas but you can find both. You may not find what you have in the USA (name brand) but maybe something similar. Comes down to what you like.

That is how it looks if you feed birds

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

The work iPhone annoys me. I was having issues where I couldn't do conference/merged calls anymore on iOS 10, so I finally upgraded the software this week to iOS 12. What a visual cluster****.

It reminds me of why I don't like iOS at all. If you're not in an app, the actual OS itself feels so bloated while appearing to look simple. As someone who used to pride himself of being platform agnostic and in the day could pick up a WP, BBOS, Android and iOS device in any order and can use it effectively, it makes me sad that some of the better options were killed off for the sake of popularity.

I've said many times in the past (and gotten put on blast for it) that iOS is nothing but a fancy app launcher. It works very well and all but everything has to be done within an app.

It seems that we have a bigger selection of herbal teas in the USA supermarkets. Other than chamomile, I prefer traditional black teas. I've noticed that tins of loose tea have been difficult to find in supermarkets here. My last tin of Twining's came from Amazon.

That's why I dropped them. The app fatigue even back in the day was real.

Yup. I was reminded today that LG still does that regional **** making their international models hit or miss.

The GF has some dead spots in her apartment (even the Pixel 2 wasn't immune). I was on an important international call and it was messing with the G7+. Swapped SIMs into the 8 and was getting VoLTE with crystal clear connections.

Not sure what I'll do. Really like the G7+, but if the radios continue to underperform, it'll get sold or benched.

Aw man, that's tough but you are right, the radios are important since you actually make calls. That's a bummer considering the journey you have been on to get to the G7+. Even so, it could become really annoying, it's up to you of course.

It's not the same thing, but I got to a point a year and some ago when I had to switch carriers because of the random zones with issues no matter the phone when at work.

VoLTE is important. It's kind of easy to not care about that if the places you go and frequent are just great with reception in general, but as you experienced, the difference can be night and day. I wish you good luck with your decision.

Thanks. I suspect I'll get a V35 as a replacement. I would have ordered one this weekend, but some priorities came up.

I may switch over to the 8 for another week or so once I get the wood bands I ordered adjusted. It's supposed to be cold and miserable this week.

I don't care about VoLTE as much. I just care that I can make calls easily, and check things online quickly when I need too. The stutter from the G7+ when I surfing online is tolerable, but it often stutters during that moment I need it to be quick. Sad, really.

I think LG had something nice in the G7, but they missed the boat...again. No hope held out for the G8. If the V40 was a little smaller, I'd have gone for one.

Most loose leaf is sold in specialty shops here in France. You might find the odd loose leaf in the supermarket.

In the UK you wouldn't find loose leaf in tins in the supermarket either. Typically they would be packaged in boxes. The UK has a larger selection of black tea compared to France.

Most Brits don't drink fancy tea though. Most just buy something they like in large quantities and if possible on sale.

My wife and I like Twinings. English Breakfast and Earl Grey organic. It's not loose leaf but it's nice.

There's nothing worse than having a crap signal. I spent a long 5 years in my office in the UK with a bad signal. Really frustrating.

Currently I have a fantastic signal at work, I can actually see the mobile tower, but I'm moving desks soon so not sure what it will be like at the new spot. I'm not hopeful.

I use Skype to call oversees and don't have any issues.

Is WiFi calling an option? My phone doesn't offer it because it's a carrier option. Which is frustrating.

At my farm we have a device that connects to our internet router to provide mobile signal. It's handy. Provides 3G as well.

I got the Twining's loose leaf Earl Grey in a 200g tin. I also have a 40 bag box of PG Tips.

I have to say I'm not a fan of PG Tips. It's popular in the UK mostly due to its price and bulk buy.

I tried a few different teas and I prefer Twinings the most out of the supermarket brands (there's a Twinings shop in London).

I haven't explored the speciality teas yet. The only one I know here in France is Kusmi Tea and they didn't have organic the last time I went to their shop. The loose leaf tea is very nice though. In tins too!

Neither phone has it, and of the two it would the 8 that's more likely to have it.

On wifi, the G7+ runs exactly as I want. While it is taller than I like, I adjusted. It has the RAM and storage combo I want. I didn't want the base 4/64 as I feel that 6GB RAM is the right spot to run modern higher end Androids. Unless you're using stock or AOSP ROMs, then you can get away with 4GB.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

One of the inherent issues here in the used market is that phones have really dropped in price. With the S9 selling "OK" this year, a savvy shopper can find a good condition carrier variant for $350. In that case, bits a hell of a buy. It makes it harder to pick up an exotic in that price range.
