We have always been bouncing back and forth between draconian and progress. You travel to some parts of the US and you wonder if it's the same country. Lol.

So, the 2019 phone season has started. Nice opening salvo, Xiaomi. The Mi 9 looks good. And with European bands, things are interesting. I still miss my Mi 5.

I found that rather interesting.

The only negative part would be using that kind of data against you. Insurance companies for example.

So, the 2019 phone season has started. Nice opening salvo, Xiaomi. The Mi 9 looks good. And with European bands, things are interesting. I still miss my Mi 5.

The Mi 9 does look interesting.

Just not sure about Chinese manufacturers of smart devices.

I know they all spy on you anyway but I'm not happy about the personal credit thing they are bringing out in China. It's very 1984...

We have always been bouncing back and forth between draconian and progress. You travel to some parts of the US and you wonder if it's the same country. Lol.

I've been to some interesting places in the USA. Some I'd prefer not to return to.

I get that we rock back and forth all the time but this situation feels very dark. Not sure if it's the easy access to news or what but the world just feels a mess.

I know things were never perfect and probably never will be but it did feel decent for a time.

The level of misinformation just seems to spread like a unvaccinated disease... With no recourse.

As much as I may drool over Huawei hardware, I prefer Xiaomi between those two. Haven't had any bad experiences with them so far and I'm on my 4th device (Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Mi Mix 2, Mi Pad 4).

I haven't personally tried a Xiaomi device but the Pocophone is quite a feat for what it is. They seem to work well for you though, so I'll take your word for it. Huawei does hit the hardware spot for sure. I liked the Honor 8 quite a lot, height aside lol.

I like that one.

It is a pretty solid device especially for the price. I am just surprised as to what these Chinese companies can churn out these days. The cameras aren't shabby anymore as well. The main downside is software upgrades including security patches.

Of course. I would talk about how insurance companies here are having non traditional partnerships. Could be bad, could be good... I'll give examples later.

So one of the newer insurance companies is offering referrals for social service issues such as housing to its members. We've seen how insurance companies in the past few months have merged with or built relationships with pharmacy chains. Everyone is scared that Amazon will get their hands into that market.

The program I work in is a pilot with a relationship between the hospital and a few insurance companies to address social service issues that lead to patients readmitting into the ED. Lots of hybrid stuff happening now.

Is that good or bad? Depends on who you ask.

So the s10e is even more compact than the iPhone X (which is great and is up my alley) and is the same price as the XR but has a headphone jack too. From what I'm reading, it seems ideal for me and the compromises don't appear to be so great.

On that note, I have to applaud Samsung for choosing to stick with the headphone jack while most of the other flagships OEMs have some excuse why it should go. I hope that they wouldn't be alone in this space for 2019.
