It's funny how things happen sometimes. I was told that the world is my oyster during a session (some other stuff too) but then I just finished a YA/Teen fiction book about a guy who carried one identity about himself so that defined how he moved in the world until his life changed due to an accident.
He struggled with not being able to carry that identity anymore (by the friends and the school seeing him in the old) since that was removed from him permanently until he interacted with a girl that made him question why he was this way. She saw through him. He thought that the girl made him do this but she made him realize that embracing who he really is and how he is like is all on him so it's up to him to carry that change.
I picked this for the story line being interesting, I didn't expect to relate.
