Here's mine..

Haven't been doing much long trails trekking. Did a lot of physical stuff on the land, clearing weeds and undergrowth.. I do think fitbit overcounts my steps

My Apple Watch is pretty accurate about distance at least on long distance hikes. I'm not sure about the step count. I've only been wearing it for 3 months so no long term data yet.

A bit of throwback.. one of my fave things to do is to climb/trek up Mt. Kinabalu. Did it eleven times, the last was nine years ago... Different times when my legs & knees were good.
Here are some from 2010

Still Harbour intentions to make one more attempt to make it an even dozen climb... The view up there is surreal..

Let's do it when I come to Malaysia for work.

It would be interesting to have worn a fitness watch for all those climbs and do a comparison. A climb normally takes two days, with about 20 hours walking time...it's not difficult nor require special training/skill sets. Just reasonable fitness, endurance and mental toughness..
It's not exactly a leisure climb cos there is a time window when climbers can start the ascent and be down before the gate closes.

For most hikes out here in the USA, they're in the wilderness areas so theoretically you can start and end whenever you want. Some require a permit especially for overnight hikes.

Park rules are more stringent for Mt Kinabalu. All climbers gotta be registered and also be accompanied by mountain guides. There used to be two main trails open to the public but one of the trail has been closed since the earthquake of 2015. The damage was extensive.
Oh, there is long wait to be registered as a climber, it could be up to a 6 months wait!! All climbers have to stay overnight at the midway point in one of the huts, but as it is, accommodations is inadequate. One can't just pitch a tent unless you have obtained prior approval, which is usually given to research units, military or SAR teams on training.

The V40, like the V35 and G7+ before them, are quite serviceable. LG really did some nice work from an engineering lens in 2018.

The weight is nicely balanced, the screen is still sharp and the notch doesn't both me one bit. The extra screen real estate is fine, especially since I use a slim case that doesn't add much bulk. Everything else is typical LG.

What annoys the hell out of me is how slow switching between the lenses have gotten. I can bounce between the four focal points on the Mate very quickly.

If I were to pick, I would have gotten a V50 with the bigger battery or the G8 with the triple camera over the 2018 lineup. Now, Huawei has a better overall setup for stills on the Mate 20 Pro. Their telephoto is more versatile, and with better photos. I actually like using their telephoto lens, as the regulars here have seen. I'd still trust the LG manual mode for stills and video over Huawei out of preference right now. But that may change as I learn the Mate 20's camera.

I still prefer the G8 footprint. I actually liked the G8, but at the prices I had seen, and coming off the V35 experience, I didn't want to pay the $100 extra for another AT&T variant.

The Mate 30 series running potentially AOSP + EMUI 10 is really going to show how much of a walled garden Google's bits on Android have become. I don't think Huawei will allow unlockable bootloader here, but I'm curious to see what they put out in two weeks.

It's one of the reasons as heavily skinned as MIUI is, I like the Chinese version that doesn't have Gapps installed. It allows me to only use what Gapps I want. Everything else I have to disable instead of simply uninstalling.

Not a fan of how the dac on the LG phones run with 9.0.
My issue is that in 7.0 (V20) and 8.0 (G7+, V35) , the DAC for my purposes was able to achieve full granular controls. I could set it in the high 30s (37-39) and it would be loud enough over my commute. Now on both the G7+ & V40 on 9.0, it is now in the mid 40s (45-48).

This makes a huge difference because the best part about the DAC for me is using a lower setting while enjoying my music cleanly helps to protect my hearing. I don't like to crank music at high volumes as my hearing is slightly above average (so is my vision).

I'd love to hike more, but I abuse my feet so much here in the city...

I don't miss Android wear in its current form. I would use it if the damn thing ran on a newer chip. Something on the 10nm process for way better battery life than this bullspit Qualcomm is selling as the 3100 chip.

I liked it because it was cleaner and had great potential. Between it and Tizen, I prefer it. But now, it just ain't. Love how Fossil has made some excellent casings though.

So yesterday I went to another chateau. I will post pictures later.

This one had a club meeting of fancy cars on. I'm not much of a car person but I know a few here are so I took some pictures.

These are cars I will never own.

Just a couple of pics of the chateau. The chateau itself is rather small, in general. What this one is known for is it's garden.

You can see the chateau in the car pics.

Chateau Vilandry.

I haven't modified the images. Lighting was being problematic with the clouds.
