WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So this afternoon I'm heading back to the farm.

It's sort of a last minute trip because we forgot some paperwork that we need for the car.

Anyway, we've decided to break up the trip along the way and we're stopping at Poitiers on the way.

We're also hoping to meet up with the builder and a garden maintenance person. So far it looks like the builder will show but not sure about the garden person yet.

We're staying right in the center of Poitiers and it's supposed to be a nice place so all going well with the weather I'll hope to get some nice pictures.

I think its Vietnamese robusta beans. The white liquid is tasted like a mixture of coconut cream & milk or condensed milk.
The more familiar brew would be caphe sua nongame, (where strong hot unfiltered coffee is dripped into sweet condensed milk)....

I'm not a fan of robusta. I find it way too bitter.

I've heard of the condensed milk coffee but never tried it. It looks ridiculously sweet.

It is quite sweet but it's quite good as well.
It's like having a coffee ice cream milkshake.

Good morning everyone.

I'm impressed by the in hand feel of the Pixel 4 XL. The screen is really nice and the dark mode gets some inky blacks in the right places. The large chin and forehead doesn't annoy me. What DOES annoy me are the extreme curves of the corners of the screen inside. Not a fan of the gestures in Android 10. Don't like the look of the Pixel launcher. Don't like the lack of FPS. My Mate 20 Pro has great Face unlock and I'd rather suffer with the UDPS instead.

But, I don't hate the phone. At the right price, the 128GB model would make a decent daily driver for me, especially since I have pixel experience. Google is out of its "dang skulls" for what they are charging for the phone.

I'll wait it out.20191018_173645.jpeg20191018_173651.jpeg20191018_173703.jpeg20191018_173802.jpeg20191018_173808.jpeg

If I do go for a Pixel 4, it has to be orange or white.

I think if I were Google, I would only launch 2 variants a year:

The A line in the spring and the high line in the fall. It would look like this for next year:

Pixel 4(a) 64GB and 4(a) XL 128GB
Pixel 5 128GB and Pixel 5 XL 256GB

No other configurations memory wise. And price them $100 less than the current Pixel 4 prices for the high end model of each screen size for the proper line, and $50 less that the current price for the (a) line model.

I've retired from the enthusiast game.

There are a few things I will buy to collect, but the retirement is real. No more wheelin' and dealin'. There are some nice value purchase items I would love to try for this yese if the itch was like in the old days - ZTE Axon 10, maybe a Oneplus device, the Asus Zenfone 6 and ROG 2, Xperia 5 and the Mi 9T Pro.

If I were making a purchase though where I wouldn't buy a phone next year...it would be the Note 10, V50 and Pixel 4XL in that order. Yeah, I really, really like the in hand feel of the Note 10. It would be in Aurora White, so I could get an orange Pixel 4XL. That's if I had the cash to spare.

The best value for money from this year is the G8. LG's notches don't bother me and that (relative) compact nature of the phone is cool.

I don't miss it. I'm OK with reading the news and reviews and snoring through a few YouTube videos and don't have the massive itch to go but something. That carries over to the stuff I'm interested in getting such as a Razer 2, Mi Mix 3, iPhone 8 or SE2.

So I've had the V40 for a while. I'm happy to report, it's been a nice fit. Like the V35 and to some degree, the G7 before it, it's done the job. I have used Niagara as my launcher of choice and it's been nice and clean for the V series and Nova I used in the G7 and liked. Since I have gone back to work at the hospital, my personal cell phone usage has dramatically changed - it's decreased. I'm on my personal phone less.

The bulk of my phone usage in the day is on the iPhone 6S provided by work and that is spent using 5 apps: text, dialer, email, notes and calendar. That's it. 100% productivity based for my work flow. Anything search related or maps related I use my personal phone due to the screen rela estate and iOS annoyances.

So I use wireless headphones now for the commute (music listening is passable enough but call quality is trash). I want to get my Sennheiser HD599 for more personal at home use. So I use the DAC less, but I use it at home. This is why I could transition to something like a Note 10/Pixel 4XL as a daily driver. I enjoy using the manual camera on the V40, but could see why I liked the Pixel 2 on times when I wanted to snap and go.

My habits have changed and thus certain devices fit better. I like hardware wise where LG is. I think it's the same old issue - software, marketing (lack of clear message). Would I go from a V40 to a G8? I don't know. Would I go from a V40 to a V50? If there as a non Verizon model, yes. The V40 is still good, but I'm curious about LG for next year.

I opted for the S10+, rather than the Note 10 or Note 10+, since I didn't want #donglelife or S Pen.

The V50 looks nice, but it was the same price as the S10+, and Samsung is better than LG in terms of updates these days.

What do you like about Niagara Launcher? That's one I haven't heard of. I had always used Nova Launcher Prime, but I'm actually looking One UI on Samsung, much to my surprise.

Some more as I am waiting to board my ultra delayed flight back home in Denver.

Those are all very cool! I had no idea there was a space museum in Huntsville until you mentioned it. I'd love to check out.

I've been to Cape Canaveral, which was a lot of fun.

So for to Poitiers a bit later than we thought. So only night shots.
