Whenever someone cuts one of Ma Bell's fiber optic lines, whether accidentally or otherwise, they just smile and hand you a fine from the Flori-Duh Public Service Commission in the amount of $10k. The true cost is about $2k so they encourage you to break many and often. Almost forgot, the state also levies a $7,500 fine if you didn't call for location services 72 hours prior to sticking a shovel in the dirt.
I don't know the details but from my understanding they apparently just opened the cabinets where the fibre connections are and just cut the cable.

I believe the cabinets are just on the side of the street.

No idea if there's any cameras to catch the person or what fines would be given. I assume it's a big one.

They cut all the cables so this means splicing all the fibre cables together. This is a not a task you rush. You have to align each individual cable perfectly.

Which is why it takes so long.

When the medical ship came into town, people packed the piers to see it. When the blue angels and thunderbirds did their flyover, people packed the piers to see it. I understand that summer is massive in every city, it's a different animal here in NYC. For instance, we would be gearing up for Fleet Week. New Yorkers are so used to an abundance of choice in terms of gatherings it has made the restrictions on social constant that much more crippling.

So I can emphasize with the need to be out, it's just lots of people won't respect the nuances needed to be out. That's the scary part.
I'm living in the land of outdoor cafes (literally year round) and people standing in the grocery stores chatting.

Parks, outdoors and gatherings are big here.

Most western European countries will have issues for sure. Family and community are big things.

Changing topic.

If anyone is interested.

One of the top DJs in France is putting on a live show everyday for an hour on Facebook live. He's really popular world wide. Not just France.

He's doing funk, disco, house and Afro beats. All different eras as well.

Name is Bob Sinclair. You can find him rather easily.

Someone has been uploading his daily show to YouTube as well if you're not into Facebook.

Keeping in mind he's a master DJ so he does his 'thing'.

It's as bit of fun and he's a bit of as character.

That just plain sucks.

For the first three weeks I had no issues with remote access. Once the first issue popped up, I have to restart my laptop at least once a day due to the remote connection freezing. I. T. had transitioned 10K workers (up from 1600) to remote access.
I'm often charting in mid note and the connection drops. Fortunately when I reconnect the note is still there. If I was rewriting notes all the time, I'd just walk to DC and go throw a shoe at Rue's long lost cousin/Mr. Clue's uncle during one of his soon to end daily rants disguised as task force press briefings.

Yesterday I thought I posted something on here but I guess I didn't submit.

Anyway, I had and I'm going to continue to have, a bad week.

Yesterday some idi*t cut a fibre optic cable taking down my area and several others.

When I say cut, I mean purposely. Vandalism. Apparently this has been happening since December last year.

Now for those of you not familiar with what fibre optic cable is. It's basically glass wire. To fix a cut means using specialist tools to join things together again. This takes a lot of time.

So my internet is down until either 8th or 9th.

To say working has become difficult would be an understatement.

I asked IT what to do and they told me to buy a WiFi dongle and use mobile internet. I'm using a desktop so no WiFi built in.

Mobile internet is fine but I probably wouldn't get the dongle until after the cable is fixed.

So a bit useless.

Wow, that's terrible. This sounds very annoying. Ahh their solution is useless.

So another diversion.

There was a side project between NIN and Tool called Tapeworm. It never happened but Puscifer released one of the songs as a wedding gift to Trent Reznor called Potions.

This is the closest we ever get to that side project.

This may not be everyone's taste in music but it's a very haunting song if you listen to the lyrics. It's not a fast song and this video just adds to the mood.

Things are starting to go back to normal here. Ladies haven't been this happy in months, finally getting their hair done.

Caffes are to reopen on 15th, I'm tempted to for a coffe, but I think you'll understand my concerns.

Religious gatherings are allowed again. This combined with beauty saloons + religious meetings + caffes (if you didn't know, we have more than 40% unemployment rate but our pubs are always full) doesn't promise a happy future to me.

We were also hinted that we should be able to return to classrooms sometimes mid June. This is still being evaluated.

I honestly hope everyhing would be fine and I'll just go back to my usual routine. I'm not a huge fan of schools, really, but I want to learn something useful while am at it. Something that's been severly compromised by the current state we're in.

And stupidity and stubborness that some of our personnel have shown really doesn't help.

I managed to screw up partitions on my SSD and ended up with two of then with almost the identical content. Now I can't install Matlab and have to spend a whole day hustling with the drives.

This May is going to be packed for me. In the next three weeks I have 8 tests, 5 homeworks (these are 10% of the grade), 3-4 lab reports (even though I'm nowhere near a lab, that's why I need a damn Matlab) and to finnish a second part of my project.

All this while attending online lectures and practices.

This is what I've been reffering to when I was mentioning idiots in our college staff.

I miss coffe. Doesn't matter with whom I drink it. Especially that Italian Lavazza one.

I also accidentally quoted myself. Don't know how that happened.

Really enjoying the V50 so far. First LG in a long time I can just use because the battery is big enough.

As much as they punted last year, LG still does a nice job from an engineering perspective. The flush feeling on both the V50 & G8 was very good. It's kinda why I wish they had tuned the G8's screen better to max out that battery.

I'd love to put it through its paces post COVID-19. I like what I see in the camera so far. Plus, this is the last LG with all the good audio licenses. In the V60, they cut costs with some of the more audiophile focused file formats that were licensed. It still crushes everything else in a smartphone, but I wanted the last kitchen sink option.

Music has certainly changed. Got lots of ladies in the commercial style lanes singing about heartbreak in a more raw and curt manner. Been listening to some Halsey, Jhene Aiko and Jessie Reyez recently. More power to them with that level of vulnerability in their music, but these exes they sing about really bent them out of shape.

Sometimes guys can be cruel, and girls can be vicious when the shoe's on the other foot. Love can really be a battlefield at times.
