I don't know how any decent normal sane person can support him. Especially now.

That has nothing to do with being liberal either. He's not a decent human being, he's sub human. Plain and simple.

Cognitive dissonance exists everywhere. It's not stuck to one particular place or one topic.

As for live and let live. Most people would be all for that unfortunately there's too many people wanting to impose their idea of values on other people.

Usually these people are highly religious and have views that are often at odds with pretty much anything that we can refer to as social norms. These people have an agenda to infiltrate the government and turn the USA into a Christian nation. Because they believed that's what it is and always has been. They are anti science, anti education, anti intellectualism, anti women's rights and typically racists on top of that.

That's not a liberal point view or a conspiracy theory that's a fact. It's been happening for decades.

That's why I'm against the anything to do with the GOP and their current leader. Their anti democratic agenda is destroying the USA.

Fortunately for me I'm not American but unfortunately that country affects everyone.

I do hope that the terrorist in the office is voted out before the US loses what little democracy is left.

Fortunately, I am an American and proud of it. I consider myself decent and sane. I'm an open minded person as well. Just to let you know.

Racism exists across the pigment spectrum. Let's fix that as country. I grew up in a lower income primarily black and brown neighborhood in the early 70s where everyone in my neighborhood was bussed out of you attended public school. I've experienced all types of ethnicism and racism from all sides my entire life. Usually I'm mistaken for Mexican but that's beside the point.

I believe the ultimate that I can do is see NO color and truly and genuinely treat every human being equal as preached by MLK, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela similar role models across ethnicities. I've been profiled but refuse to ever let them see me react. My driving habits mean that I'm constantly being followed and I do get pulled over more than I probably should. I've been on the hood of my car more than once in my 20s-30s for suspicious activity. Ive gotten better at my age, I just turned 50 and need to keep my borderline HBP in check.

You should see color, because when not "seeing" it, you are not seeing the whole individual and considering their life experiences which makes them to be the person they are today. Seeing color =/= being racist are not the same thing. That also tells me that someone isn't willing to consider how another person can have a different experience from you because of how they appear.

I am surprised that after being followed and pulled over constantly, you can still say that and be okay with it.

There was a question I saw on social media that someone I followed asked which was, "when were you first made aware of your race?" The answers were interesting, but the idea of having the luxury to not be aware as a child, is something I never knew. I understand how this can be the case, but I couldn't relate.

I understand what Chuck is trying to say with his statement but I agree wholeheartedly with you and MIA. Colour matters. Right now black lives matter.

I've always been a person who wanted to make friends with everyone. I was always curious of their backgrounds, their lives, etc.

Because of that I've had some great experiences. So has my wife.

Canada is different than the USA in a lot of ways but it's not perfect. No country is. It would take too long to explain Australia and France has issues for sure.

Humanity needs a reset... It feels that way sometimes.

I know a person here with a favourite emoji that fits Trump well.

Anyone who goes too far into a certain philosphy and invests the whole of himself in a certain idea is in wrong.

And please don't go full Shapiro to prove my point wrong.

While I understand what Chuck is saying...we ain't there yet. This isn't the Federation on Star Trek. Not even close. That's the point. I'd prefer not to see color.

As I talked with the GF recently...i grew up in a country where predominantly black people exist. Where I had general freedom of movement. I came here and this isn't the case. Cannot unsee that.

Had a written reply on the app on my phone that I don't know if want to post. This is too much rabbit hole that's not getting us much of anywhere. I'm not trying to preach to the choir or trying to convert the stubborn privileged few who won't bend. I'm only interesting converting those in privilege who can and are willing to work together. If we can get enough of those, we can make changes and check the peanut gallery of racists in their closets - and know where they are - vs having them run amok.

"All it takes for evil to flourish is to have good people do nothing."

You did it! I hope you don't have to do the final test.

So do I. This course is a real PITA.

Was quickly checking out some of the courses in the final year, some of them seem really interesting. I'm looking forward to that final year, provided that I pass this one, which I hope I will lol.

Can you provide me with the list of the ideas that you find worth following and believing in, that your president of choice is advocating for?

Don't think I mentioned Mr. Trump. I merely wanted to make the point that we have have the right to our opinions no matter the base of thought. Statement based on freedom of thought.

Rue was talking about him, and you specifically answered to that part.

You do have rights. But your actions do leave consenquences and nobody's really thinking about that.

Look at our riots now. In a pandemic, hijacking protests about murdered American citizen by a criminal police officer, to loot, burn, rob and steal from their fellow man.

MAGA hats were all over the place during the lockdown and their reason was pure trash. This is way beyond that.

And also I don't mind them destroying monuments glorifying slavery though.

As I'm not affected (meaning I'm a white guy) it's virtually impossible for me to even I understand these situations.

It's tragic and the system is broken. Not just in the USA either.

I'm sure you're aware where I stand on this. Racism makes no sense to me at all.

As they say, acknowledging the issue is the first step. With the current leadership I don't see that happening.
(wasn't going to post this but decided to)

But, you ARE affected.

Here's one way. You are a potential target by some in the marginalized group with extreme retaliatory views because you are from the privileged group on looks. Your actions may have you be an ally, and when you first became aware of your privilege you cannot unsee it. But on looks alone, to those people, you're a target.

If those in privilege want to see it, do a ride along. If you and I were walking along and some racists who look like you rolled us with the the intent to harm, we both would been in a pine box. Your privilege wouldn't save you. Or if you did a ride along and two cowboy cops stopped us, they'd separate us and you'd see how we would be treated differently.

Outside of this example, you are still affected - by benefiting from the in-built privilege that you would be able to access here in America. In the current system, if we had the same level of resources, you're still ahead. It's only if I had more resources than you you'd be behind. It's why some poor whites in America always rage against brown folks with more resources. Life's a ***** when you cannot get to enjoy the social privileges you are supposedly entitled to.

I know you (personally) know about this. So my comments are directly for you, per se. They are for lurkers who may be reading and from the same group and not willing to acknowledge their privilege. The issue is 400 years of ingrained privilege so steeped in is hard to unsee once it is pointed out.

Kinda nice getting updates from the Pixel. Haven't tried any of the feature drops yet. It's a solid phone, this 3XL. Doesn't change the gripes I have about it though.

My Pixel 3a is still in the box once it came back from Google. I'm probably going to trade it in for the 4a whenever it's released.
