(wasn't going to post this but decided to)

But, you ARE affected.

Here's one way. You are a potential target by some in the marginalized group with extreme retaliatory views because you are from the privileged group on looks. Your actions may have you be an ally, and when you first became aware of your privilege you cannot unsee it. But on looks alone, to those people, you're a target.

If those in privilege want to see it, do a ride along. If you and I were walking along and some racists who look like you rolled us with the the intent to harm, we both would been in a pine box. Your privilege wouldn't save you. Or if you did a ride along and two cowboy cops stopped us, they'd separate us and you'd see how we would be treated differently.

Outside of this example, you are still affected - by benefiting from the in-built privilege that you would be able to access here in America. In the current system, if we had the same level of resources, you're still ahead. It's only if I had more resources than you you'd be behind. It's why some poor whites in America always rage against brown folks with more resources. Life's a ***** when you cannot get to enjoy the social privileges you are supposedly entitled to.

I know you (personally) know about this. So my comments are directly for you, per se. They are for lurkers who may be reading and from the same group and not willing to acknowledge their privilege. The issue is 400 years of ingrained privilege so steeped in is hard to unsee once it is pointed out.
Though it's not directly at me I still like this perspective.

Yes I understand all of that, all too well.

Thanks

Went out for lunch at one of the noodle place... and the tea was really good... its nice weather, the sun is not so freaking hot. Hopefully, later I'll get to the beach and watch a brilliant sunset. . its usually packed, but with the CMO and no tourist I have the whole beach to my self!!

My wife and I are both happy for the rain.

Though I'm not as affected by allergies as she is, rain helps a lot.

It's been very windy lately so that didn't help either.

My mum's allergic to pollen, not her favourite time of the year.

I can enjoy rain, especially during the night, but we haven't had proper sunny days in a while. Though forecast is already wrong, there's not a drop of rain right now.

We had quite the storm last night and lots of rain. Today I think it's light rain and tomorrow more rain. Next week is off and on with the rain.

We can't complain really. It's been great weather lately.

While I understand what Chuck is saying...we ain't there yet. This isn't the Federation on Star Trek. Not even close. That's the point. I'd prefer not to see color.

As I talked with the GF recently...i grew up in a country where predominantly black people exist. Where I had general freedom of movement. I came here and this isn't the case. Cannot unsee that.

Had a written reply on the app on my phone that I don't know if want to post. This is too much rabbit hole that's not getting us much of anywhere. I'm not trying to preach to the choir or trying to convert the stubborn privileged few who won't bend. I'm only interesting converting those in privilege who can and are willing to work together. If we can get enough of those, we can make changes and check the peanut gallery of racists in their closets - and know where they are - vs having them run amok.

"All it takes for evil to flourish is to have good people do nothing."

Sorry, I've read everyone's replies but like MIA says above I'm not looking to go down rabbit holes. When I say I don't want to see color, it's not from some idealism standpoint. It's that each color exists. The racists in each color want to keep you focused on the past violations to stop forward movement that change brings about. Focusing on color does allow to acknowledge 400 years oppression. People thumping on illegal border jumpers to muddy the enhanced immigration to allow more people here the proper way. Ok so what?!? How does any of this help solve problems.

There's multiple ways and reasons a fire starts unintentional and intentional. There's only few ways to put it out. Water, sand and chemical are pretty much. You put out the fire regardless. Then you make sure it stays out and then figure out the where and the why.

Moving everyone forward equally regardless of color is the start. Removing the problems across the board is very important. That's what I mean about not seeing color.

What’s up gang! so after years and years of being attached to my Windows PCs for my music production needs, I’ve finally got an alternative. After Drambo released a few weeks ago, I decided that I “Needed” a new iPad; so, on a budget, I went out and found a like new iPad Pro 11. Didn’t take long to wrap my head around the new USB-C port and all of the connectivity options that it has made available.

I now have a completely portable, and amazingly functional iOS based music production studio! Cable management has never been my thing, so I made this diagram in Pixelmator showing how everything is connected. The USB-C hub is what brings everything together and it still amazes me how well everything works. With all of the new features of the latest iPadOS, like using external USB hard drives, thumb drives, (and finally with a file system that works!) and mouse/KB support, working within the iOS/iPadOS ecosystem is wonderful!

Then, when I “need” to re-dock myself back into my Windows desktop environment (where Ableton Live 10 Suite lives), all I have to do is unplug my audio interface (the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd gen) from the USB-C hub, and plug it back into my PC.

There are very few things in life I hate. "whatabout ism" is one of them. Especially when discussing oppression. People like to cherry pick points and deflect typically because the whole is uncomfortable.

In times like these, people need to take a moment to be very clear on how they articulate their thoughts. People are hypersensitive about words, as words do matter. Some people the more they talk, the more they dig themselves in a ditch.

It's stuff like this why those in power and privilege laugh. They're more willing to defend what they have. Maybe it's the professional in me, but pooling our power is the best way to effect change and confirm our seat at the table. Divide and conquer only works if the division is in place.

I just lost a good hour that could have been spent on something better. Tomorrow morning I have a test in my CAD course and I was just practicing a bit. I wanted to draw a simple arc of 180 degree. So this code works perfectly:
PLINE 0,0 5,0 A CE 2.5,0 L 5 CL

But I wanted to use an angle option instead of the arc length, so I went like this:
PLINE 0,0 5,0 A A 180 CE 2.5,0

This doesn't work as expected. Why? Well I know why but I don't know how. Apparently, you have to specify the center first, then everything else (which does make sense, but again, the arc isn't drawn until you provide all the data, so it shouldn't really make difference whether you input angle or center data first), so finally, this works:
PLINE 0,0 5,0 A CE 2.5, 0 A 180 0,0 CL

Awful 1 hour spent.

To me that makes sense because when you use the commands, arc or circle or ellipse, it's always centre first.

There are other commands that use set points first as well. I'm guessing the programming would be the same.

It probably has to do with the functions implementation, I can't see any other reason.

I wish it was handled differently. I was always taught on my programming courses that it's better for a program to do nothing than to do something wrong or unexpected.

I’m not sure if you’re replying to me since I wasn’t quoted, but I’m not sure. Understand, I don’t waste time picking words, since actions speak far louder than words. I’ve never been politically correct, because I have nothing to be correct about. What you’re saying is what I agree with, I just come from a different angle that I feel is far more effective for me to effect change for those around me. There’s more than one way to skin a gator.....
