Got some mixed feeling here.
Yes, it is open. Yes it is across from a park that has a history of being a protest friendly space. Yes, there is a precinct nearby. Yes, the barricades are likely there to allow for protestors to use the road more easily.
Now, the nearby pharmacy, clothing store, Best Buy, liquor stores, external unsealed ATMs are boarded up too. Yes, contractors got paid to do work to put up and to take down the boards.
Still, the optics have very desolate look to them. It's not boarding up in the face of a natural disaster. If anyone has walked through commercial or residential stripes that have been boarded up, it has a certain FEEL to it. That's what I'm getting here. View attachment 142323
I'm immune to the plywood look. Global pandemic, nationwide riots and protests and now we're expecting a much more active season that has already broken the record for number of named storms before June 3rd. If I had one solitary artistic bone in my body I'd find a way to manufacture and sell decorative wraps for plywood. If they can make a 911 Carrera into a rolling billboard with vinyl wrap, I can turn Whole Paycheck look like a tropical paradise.
