WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

If I were running on fumes today, that would have been an improvement. It is such a slog. Stuff like this is how people get into a coffee habit.
Going back to work after a year has been a slog. Three weeks in and I'm already over it.

I haven't been sleeping well. I think it's due to the noise in the area. I'm not used to it anymore so everything wakes me up.

Then I also stress about the time and making the bus. Thankfully that's going to be over soon.

Along with all the other stresses of course. This is a very rough period when you first move somewhere and you're trying to get settled. Lots of money spent etc. My first pay is next week and it's pretty much spent. Won't be until March when we have breathing space and April when things will smooth out.

I think I'm going to be here for at least two years. But who knows? A lot depends if my wife's business picks up or not. It's pretty quiet at the moment.

I believe that it has been. You do have a lot going on. May the time y'all have breathing space come fast...

Going back to work after 16 hours off is always a slog...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Yes that was a big talking point during the referendum. Immigrants on the dole, immigrants taking school placements, immigrants filling hospital and doctor offices. Immigrants filling up the island in general.

Then there's attitude that you're only British if you have generations behind you so even if you get citizenship you're not deserving of the befits of being British.

Of course, the truth is immigrants are a benefit to the economy because the vast majority work, pay taxes and spend their money in the UK. They're also young so typically not in hospital that frequently. They're more likely to be the nurse or doctor you see.

EU immigration has dropped already and a lot have left the UK. This is already causing problems for the UK.

But I guess you can only beat people up so much before they've had enough. Getting called 'que jumpers' by the PM probably didn't help.

Each day there's another company moving or laying off people. But yet they believe everything's is fine.
This is THAT Calvinists bull**** talking. Like my landlord, grocer and student loan provider gives a **** about my gentry/heritage when their respective due dates circle every month.

Reminds me of the most popular bumper sticker we saw here in the 70s - Will the last American leaving Miami please bring the flag.

What kills me is that Americans are migrants. From not too long ago.

Also, technically, anywhere but Africa makes the human race migrants in the rest of the world.

I like that perspective.

There's actually a lot of other nonsense that goes with that. I could write articles about it but to put it bluntly I just want to see the end so I can stop wondering what's going to happen.

I really really want the UK to crash out but I keep getting this feeling it's not going to happen.

Feb 14th is another vote. If things go wrong I can only assume it's going no deal but there's talks of extension...

Sigh.

I personally don't want them to crash and burn, because either way, certain people still suffer. The UK flaming out of the EU will not undo the inculcation of over 400+ years worth of privilege in some folks who share that particular hue. Now, if you were talking something like the MPs would not be paid for 3 months after all this garbage, then my ears would slightly perk up.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So I'm pretty satisfied with the Mi Pad 4. It took a drop recently and picked up a ding. The one thing I miss from the Z3 tablet compact was the water resistance. Otherwise, this thing zips along just great and does exactly what I want. With the design what it is, I should have gotten the 10" model instead, as that would have also given the bigger battery, more internal storage and the slightly larger screen.

It also has killed all my interest in owning another Xiaomi phone. Don't need it when I have the tablet doing an awesome job.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Every time I pick up the G7+, I'm reminded of how much I like and respect this phone - and why the damn radios are so irksome. I wonder if 9.0 would improve things, but I have my doubts.

I wish that LG would really sit down and do more complete thoughts.

The triple shot feature isn't a bad gimmick in the V40. I'd love to see it refined so a content creator has more flexibility. I'd want to see them take the variable apperature approach to a wide angle lens. Yes, I'd go to a dual camera setup where you combine the main camera and the wide angle lens. So at f1.5 you get a tighter shot and you can toggle up to f1.8 for wide angle. That cam would have OIS. The telephoto would have the three stage zoom and OIS too.

I like the idea of killing the G series line as a high end option. Leave the V series as the standard big screen flagship and the cluster**** foldable screen as the other high end model. The G series starting to get redunano, especially since LG didn't want to keep the screen size small.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Punch hole displays. Foldable phones.

Someone make me a G7+ without a selfie camera and a speaker grill for dual speaker support in its place and I'd buy it.

See, my favorite part of the immigration debate is to "keep the illegals out". Now, the question is: who wants to do some of the key jobs that keep 'Murica running?

I walk into quite a few restaurants. When I take a look at the runners, and some of the cooks I see, my suspicion isnt about their immigration status, it's about their ethnicity. I suspect they're likely Hispanic. Construction: on the lower totem pole job, I suspect the same. Laborers on farms? Similar suspicion. I can go on and on here. Are some folks doing this legally? Sure. Are some doing this illegally? Sure, as this can be easier to get into.

Not being stereotypical here. Because of the times we live in, there is a lot of this that is more overt (but has likely been happening for years).

If we look back in history, no matter the hue, there were certain people that do the jobs no one wants to do. Unfortunately, as this Calvinists bull**** has set hold, the hues of the faces in these jobs have changed and the perceptions of how they are have gotten more negative - overshadowing the importance of what they do.

I'm with you in all that.

In the UK the immigration debate came in two forms. One was the eastern Europeans "taking all the jobs and going on befits" (Not sure how that works) and European migration in general. The other was the immigration influx from the Syrian war and Africans fleeing troubled lands.

The European one was caused by the UK not bothering to implement EU immigration rules. However, the idea of freedom of movement seemed to confuse a lot of people and some policies that the UK government broght in also bothered citizens. Like hiring eastern European truck drivers at a lower wage in their own country creating unfair competition.

The Syrian and African crisis is both sad and complex. On the one hand you have those fleeing conflict for a better life. At the same time you have those taking advantage of the situation because they feel they can. On top of that you have others who are hiding in the masses who wish to cause problems though I think these are few.

The referendum happend at a peak time of all this. Perfect timing you could say.

You then have to add in the 40 years of the media and government bad mouthing the EU and the TV stations highlighting in a very retrograde style how 'Great' Brittian was in the past.

There are so many programs on TV about the past these days and through rose tinted glasses that it's amazing that anyone really remembers how crap it really was.

But I digress.

It’s raining like crazy here with really strong gusty winds for the last 18 hours. It’s going to continue a lot longer.

There was never any true greatness for 'Murica or jolly old Englund at any point in time.

God help us during this next stretch of history.
