WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I'm sticking to the band it came with for the time being and see how it goes. I can always switch to something else later.
What size straps does it use? If it uses 22mm, there are a few I could pass along as suggestions when you're ready.

It's a 22mm from what the site says. Feel free to pass on info. I'm not sure about a steel band but I know my wife likes them more than I do. I'm curious about a wood or bamboo band.

My main issue with the media (though there are some that are pretty good) is that they don't really challenge anything anyone says. This is especially true of the mainstream in the UK. The Brexit leaning people sprout all this nonsense, all of which can be easily rebuked, but they never ever get challenged. I just don't know why not. What's the point of interviewing someone or listening to someone if they're completely lying to your face and you don't say a thing. Is this balanced reporting? I just don't see the point of having these people constantly on TV and no one ever seems to tell them they're full of sh*t.

What kind of journalism is this?
Journalism, like all sorts of other things in post modern society, is evolving to meet the tastes of the end user. Which with the current target demographic, ain't saying much.

My biggest issue is that in the age of increased access to information, the skills of critical thinking to properly sift through said information are as under siege as semi nude models in a dressing room trapped with a horny roster waving chauvinist male.

We're just ginormously ****ed, man.

Roger that.

You can do a hybrid steel band with wood panels, as a semi compromise. I have them on my 20mm watches and those are nice too. You could go black/sliver and cherry wood, for example.

It also depends on how you like the watch to feel on your hand. I like metal because I like that heavy feeling on the wrist, especially when dressing up. You can always go mesh/milanese too.

The issue is do you want quick release or standard bands? I prefer quick release and the wood bands I have have held up OK.

This is the new hotness I'm using. I'm going to get the black with the red stitching (in place of the blue on this one) to go with my S3 classic for some subtle flair.

(Yes, I'm in transit to work. Should have stayed home, but couldn't) 20190820_085331.jpeg20190820_085338.jpeg20190820_085352.jpeg

The watch is pretty weighty as it is. I also have the issue with the left side of my body as I mentioned so don't want to go too weighty.

When I was in Sicily there was a nice shop in Catania that was selling wood bands. I'm sure there's a place in Paris. I'll also look online but I think this time I will buy in shop...

That band is a touch light for the watch. The white face on the watch needs a darker band.

My wrist is a bit harrier than yours. How do you go with the steel band?

Oh, I prefer the quick release as well.

The thing for me is that I'm now in a place where I want something that works and still has a few bells and whistles for my taste. It's why I like what LG has to offer. It is safe, affordable and functional, especially when you ig ore their gimmicks.

My main gripe with them is their lack of software support. The last LG I bought brand new was the G7+. If in my research I saw that it wasn't going to give me LTE, I'd have skipped it, honestly. The V35 experience kinda soured me from the idea of manually updating my phones or cross flashing to get rid of bloat, as LG decided to lock their bootloaders a few years ago.

If I don't want another LG as the daily driver, what are my choices? I love the in hand feel of the XZ3, and I liked the camera enough. No G cam port, but I'd use open camera for RAW footage. The 9 Pureview? Sure, but I'd have to put up with a bare bones Android One, and a finicky fingerprint scanner for a flat screen and a more interesting camera concept.

Just something to think through.

Wow. You laid down your cards and you have such a valid point. I also don't know, the other options sound like such a compromise. Additionally, storage is really important to you as well.

I've been listening to a few different podcasts lately.

One on French history called Land of Desire, I like this one, it's in English.
A science one called Science VS, one of my favourites.
A Paris one called The Earful Tower (though I haven't listened lately to this one it got a touch annoying)
I still listen to The Infinite Monkey Cage when there's new episodes
I tried listening to the God Show but that's a bit annoying
I tried Star Talk but didn't work for me.

I also tried So my dad wrote a Porno. I couldn't listen to it for long. It was funny but...

I'm on the look out for new shows to listen to. I tried many of others as well. Some were OK.

So do you do only these types, which is like science, history and humor? I'm vaguely familiar with the Infinite Monkey Cage.

I could recommend some lifestyle and/or inspiration ones, if you don't mind those but that's why I asked.

So I still have no watch. I probably won't have it until tomorrow thanks to the wonderful courier company that is UPS.

I guess I learnt my lesson here. Just get is sent to a Amazon locker next time or just buy in store.

Have I mentioned that online shopping is a pain?

I'm just annoyed more than anything else. I'm not in a hurry it just irritates me that something so simple becomes a right pain.

Wow. This sounds annoying. I hate that they do it like that.

I don't do the inspirational podcasts. It's not that I have anything against them it's just not my thing.

I tried to listen to many different types of podcasts, some simply didn't gel.

My nephew's wife suggested Unf*ck your Brain. My wife pointed out to them both that the person on that podcast has zero experience or training in the things she's talking about so they should be cautious. The person doing this podcast states they are a Harvard Masters Coach (or something like that). However her Masters is in Law. My wife hates when people make false claims. Especially in the helping industry. There's a reason the main aspect of this industry is heavily based in ethics.

Unfortunately there's this other issue where some people believe, falsely, that 'training and expertise' don't matter.

That's part of the issue I have with podcast, especially these millienials (yeah generalising) claiming to be 'experts' when they have no training in something. Our favourite is the 17-19 YOs wanting to be 'life coaches'...

So I'm pretty picky about podcasts and the people on them.

The Infinite Monkey Cage is great, however being into science does help. It's a great stepping stone for those who are interested in what science is and getting a general better understanding.

They try their best to talk about science the right way on a variety of topics. It's also funny.

Gotcha. I understand how you feel about this.
In that case, I don't have any suggestions aside from The Minimalists, who basically answer questions about that with different things. They do acknowledge that they aren't experts but sometimes they have experts on, in relation to the topic.
You might have heard of this already. I hope that you'll be able to get some good recommendations from people here.

Ooh okay. I believe it. I'm not really into science, just surface level interest.

I actually watched their movie (my friends from LA are there at their last talk) and I follow them on Facebook. Maybe I'll give the podcast a go. I do agree a lot with what they say.

Omg that's so cool that you have friends that went! They changed their format to be shorter late last year. Also no ads either, as you might expect.

They mostly skim the surface but it does get quite interesting at times. They have a great episode talking to astronauts and recently about the moon landings. There's a few on the brain, which I think are great. Also climate change and evolution. Their topics are pretty varied.

There's a couple of episodes explaining Eisenstein's theories because Brian Cox is a partical physicist. He worked at the Hadron Collider.

They're actually shown in the movie.

That's cool they shortened the podcast. I think my wife complained they were too long. I'm OK with some ads just not tonnes of them.
