I'm currently looking through my display setting on Windows 10 and realizing that there's some weird resolution above 1920x1080, it shows that 2715x1527 is available... which to me is an odd resolution... hmm. Have you ever tried this resolution?

I believe that's an nvidia thing for supersampling. It's basically anti-aliasing.

Just wondering about what the people of Windows Central game at! For me it'll be primarily 1080p on my TV because... that's all it can handle, lol. Occasionally I'll do 1440p on my two monitors, it feels smoother and looks sharp. 4K? Forget about it, lol.

Does anyone game at a different resolution? Feel free to share!

Playing at 1080p myself on a GTX 1060 Razer Blade. But I haven't been playing the most optimized games yet. Need to try some others.

PC/ On most games I use native resolution of monitor (1440x900), but on CS:GO I need best performance and bigger hitboxes so I use 1024x768 STRETCHED
And on Surface Pro 3 I had to create custom resolution, cuz in 3:2 there is only native resolution.
So I created 1624x1080; 1440x960 and 1152x768, it depends how high are HW requirements :)

I like 1024x768 but really my gaming laptop is like 5 years old and can only handle games at 720p. I really don't use my PC for gaming. I'm more of a Nintendo Console gamer.

Hey, I game at 2k ultrawide (21:9). 2k seems to be detailed enough to ease up on the AA which in turn isn't needed as much at 2k. Most games run at 50fps+ but I'll lock it to a stable framerate where possible to get a smoother experience as I suffer simulation sickness and framerate bouncing 10+/- just makes me feel sick.

I'm on 1080p on a Dell 27" curved screen. I upgraded last year from a 10 y/o desktop. Getting back into it all after so many years I didn't realize all the different frame rates and resolutions available...so I am stuck with 1080p 60hz for a bit. Which is totally fine for me the games still look great! Plus, I don't need a 1080ti to push 4k!!! I may pick up a 1080 to future proof myself...eventually. 200% res on 1080p!

I'm digging the custom resolutions for specific HW requirements.

Nintendo gamer in the house! Hehe, it's all good!

720p isn't too bad, it's definitely playable!

2K! I haven't seen many 2K gamers!

I'll sometimes lock the frame rates at 30FPS on games like Mafia 3, even though I'm capable of 60+FPS. 30FPS seems smoother almost from quite a distance away from the screen!

1080p 60FPS Great! The sweet spot of frame rates and resolution.

Upgrading to the big and bad 1080 are you?! Sounds great! What GPU are you upgrading from?

Usually on a 24in Asus 1920x1080p screen, but there are some older games I play occasionally that do not support that resolution.

Emulating games: 4K downsampled if possible
PC games where possible, native 1080p on my TV
I usually prefer to max visuals as opposed to resolution, so I prefer to play at High on 900p or 720p than Low-Medium at 1080p.

Current games I play:
1080p The Legend of Zelda NES 1986
900p Shadow of Mordor PC 2014
900p Metal Gear Solid 2 on PC 2003 (doesn't support higher than 900p fullscreen AFAIK). I tried emulating it from PS2, but didn't get consistent 60 fps regardless of resolution.

I'm on a projector currently. High settings on 1280x800 is the most I will push, since that's native for the projector. It's pretty awesome playing L4D2 on 140" of goodness.

I'll probably upgrade to a 1080p once this one conks out and up the graphics card to 1050 or equivalent AMD.

I only play at 4K on a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Water Cooling card. Typically I can achieve 50-60 FPS with some mild OC'ing and/or tweaking of settings. On a few rare occasions I have to drop down to 1440p, but that's typically for older or less-optimised games. Some games don't support 4K, so "as high a resolution as possible" would apply to those

Nice!

I would take visuals over resolution any day! Lol... unless it's like a crazy low resolution!

I use PS2 emulators every once in a while, but mainly to bring back good old memories!

A Projector?? Great!!

Playing LFD2 on a 140" screen sounds absolutely perfect for that game!! *Buys projector because I may be a little jealous* LMAO

Nice! We finally got a high resolution guy!

I want the MSI and Corsair 1080 Sea Hawk! It looks great . I don't know though, I might keep my MSI 980ti

3440x1440 on a LG 34UM95 34" monitor. Pretty nice but refresh rate is a bit low. Mostly BF4 and likely need to upgrade my video card as the GTX 780Ti is getting a bit old.

Depends on the game. I play Space Engineers and Medieval Engineers, ME works in 4k but SE needs 1080p on my system to get a decent framerate. Dirt Rally and other racing driving games I play need to be in 1080p to get good fps, but other games like Insurgency or Day of Infamy work fine in 4k. I haven't completely pinned down what all the deciding factors are, but it seems to vary a lot in my experience. I'm running an older system (AMD FX 4130 OC'd to 4.2GHz with 16 GB of RAM and an R9 280) so I'm sure with a little newer hardware you could get acceptable frame rates on more games. For me around 40-50 fps is acceptable on most games so I'm not super picky. Depending on the game, I'll be happy with 30 fps, considering Bluray movies are all in 30fps and no one seems to complain about those. As a side note, I generally shoot for medium-high detail settings on my system.

I'm playing in 900p or 1080p depending on the game. Older games I play in 1080p. Newer games I'm forced to play in 900p.

What's your refresh rate? My TV is only 60Hz but my Monitors are 144Hz

A 780Ti is getting old but it's still a really great card! My old man still has a Reference 770 but plans on upgrading to a 1060 or 1070.

A 1080 and 4K guy! Nice!
All of those are Great games!

Frame rates are a bit weird when comparing Bluray movies and games. I don't quite see a difference but I'm not too into movies though.

I tend to stay on the 1080 side with highest game settings but if I know my PC can run it without problem I'll bump it up to 1440p and have it on med-high.

I've been running 4k for a few months now, on a LG 27UD68P monitor. My previous monitor was the same size, 27", but it was a Korean import Achieva Shimian 2560x1440 model.

I was running a 980Ti until recently, and although on a 27" 4k monitor AA is completely unnecessary and results in decent framerates with that GPU, I do miss getting near constant 60fps+ with 2560x1440 with it. Ended up buying a 1080Ti just so it bothers me a lot less.

One thing folk don't talk about much when discussing 4k gaming is just how badly some games scale to high DPI panels. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are great, they scale independent of resolution... and then suddenly ME3 has fixed assets that are miniscule on 4k without mods. And don't get me started on games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution - the text is about half a millimeter real size on screen, it's awful, and there's no way to fix it. Console ports do not always do well running at native 4K, and it doesn't really scale to a resolution other than 1080p exactly, which is a shame.
